I just got a call from our favorite clown. The circus is in town, and she is caravaning a group of her own to dinner. The subject of letterboxing came up...can't image how...and all the clowns were very curious. She called to have me look up a clue. So, imagine...a group of descrete, stealthy clowns...NOT... just found there first letterbox....nightboxing no less!!!

Here's the scoop ...

I was not wanting to pick up clowns tonight. I was tired, but had committed to drive my van. There were 14 or 15 clowns to be picked up & I was transporting 5 of them.

Two of the clowns had been at the mall and were not going to be able to make it - asked about taking a taxi. I said I had to go by the mall on the way and would pick them up. We started the small talk of where they were from, etc. and I mentioned meeting someone a year & half ago through letterboxing who was .... "WHAT!" they asked, "is this letterboxing". So I told them the basics - all before we got to the mall. They started telling the 2 we picked up - wanting all the details.

Well, the drivers had been called about an accident on I-85, so we decided to take a back road - which meant Roper Mountain - past a certain park where I knew there was 2 boxes. Not having much time, we attempted the easier box ... Pichu for those wondering ... that's when I called Mama Buck. I wanted to make sure it was still active & I had the right bush. We were all digging around in the bushes in the dark laughing and they were so excited. Then, before the buck could pick up the phone, one of them came up with the box. WHOO HOO! They didn't stamp in, but were TOTALLY sold on the game now.

We drive on to dinner - and the 1st guy was telling ALL the others about this new hobby he found out about. Yes, there will be more clowns among us! They are already making plans to plant on their train travels.

As far as finding boxes, they will be limited - they don't have cars and only 1 day off to do all their stuff. But somehow, I think they will make it work.

I'm not sure if these clowns are coming your way or not. There are 2 units of RBBB. This is the Red unit - and they didn't think the Hungarian clowns of the Blue unit would be really interested.

I have 50 tickets for Friday night for our Cub Scout Pack for RBBB. We are very excited ..... should I take my PTs ? LOL Only KIDDING ...... maybe I can hide a box for them while the cub scouts are doing their Badge thing at 5:30 !
