Charlie and I had yet another opportunity to be extras in a movie yesterday. What a long, tiring, but very fun day it was !!
Bob McCreary, who owns the furniture factory that I work at, is involved in producing a movie based on a true story about a Wake Forest football player. Bob graduated from Wake Forest back in the 60s and played for the Dallas Cowboys and the SF 49ers. He has maintained a close relationship with Wake Forest and is very close to this story.

The movie stars: Aiden Quin, Andie MacDowell and Ryan Merriman as the main Charecter, Jon Abatte. It's a very emotional drama. We got to work with the stars yesterday, and were sitting very close to them several times while they were filming. I'm quite sure we'll be shown in the film. We KNOW we'll be heard !! We filmed 11 different time frames, 11 different stadiums, 11 different games, all different weathers and all that, so we had to keep changing our clothes..... our seats, our props, etc. Included in the "make believe" where they'd TELL US what we were cheering for and when to cheer, we got to watch the actual game between Wake Forest and Duke ! They filmed while that was going on too. They told us then just to be ourselves and watch the game like always. It was an awesome game, WF won at the last minute in OT. Very exciting !!

I had met some of the others involved in the film, director, producer, etc. when they came for meetings, so I got to talk to them yesterday at filming. Some I had only talked to on the phone, but introduced myself to yesterday. Now I'll know who I'm talking to when they call in. They were very pleased that some of Bob's people came to be in the movie.

We have been involved as Extras on several other things too and always enjoy it so much. For major movie fans such as us, it is so cool to see how it's all done and how they put it all together.
Yesterday we got up at 6 am and got back home at midnight.... today we're "going through the motions" but we're not going very fast. Both worn out.

We didn't get to spend any non filming time with the stars yesterday, but do hope to next time we're involved. There was so much to do yesterday, and no time in between. I'm hoping to get my picture taken with Ryan. He's so darn cute and I know daughter Rhonda will be GREEN with ENVY !!!

Sorry for the long post. We wanted to share our experience !!!
I do plan to put more on my BLOG at a later time and hopefully some pictures.
We are very glad to have been a part of what we think will be a good movie. It is extra special because the story is local home town people.

How exciting!! Sounds like a lot of fun...I am not as big of a movie buff, but I may just have to go see this one...and keep my eyes out for you guys...good thing I have plans to meet you before then so I will know who I am looking for!! LOL

Bob mentioned to me a month or so ago that they'd need extras and that he was counting on us as he knew we loved to get in on the movies.

So far... we have done
C FOR CHAOS....Horror movie... got killed on screen.....That was Charlie, Daughter Rhonda and myself.... not yet released.
WESLEY.... about John Wesley, the founder of the methodist church. That one was Stephanie, Rhonda and I. It's coming out soon.
MANDIE AND THE SECRET TUNNEL.... based on a series of MANDIE books. We filmed that at Ghost town in the sky. That was just Stephanie and myself. (PAID GIG.... wooo hoooo, that makes us professionals)
Then a BMW SPEC Commercial.... that was Charlie and I. We were zombies. BMW hasn't bought it yet, but hopefully they will.

and now The 5th Quarter. This one was special because THEY asked US.

Papa Wolf and the middle cub used to do extra work. They were both registered with an agent through Evolutions. The head shots they had were done through a professional photographer friend (for free). The agency would call them with extra work, usually commercials. I remember being an extra for a Whoopie Goldberg movie before.

For movies that have an open call for extras for no pay, people will just go for fun and see what is happening. I did that once and found it to be a very long and boring day.

When Papa Wolf and the middle cub did it, they did it for pay. It would be a long day or two, usually at the race track or at Carowinds. In addition to easy pay, they got fed for free all day. That was pretty sweet.

I think for someone to really enjoy it and want to go all over to be involved and spend the long waiting around in between times....... you'd have to be DIE HARD movie fans like us.
Every time someone says THANK YOU FOR COMING, it tickles me... they think "WE" are doing THEM a favor...... Jeeeezzzzzzz

We're lovin every minute of it !!!
