Let's just hope Dwyle Flonking doesn't become part of the 99B events!

You know... the other day, while I was mowing the lawn I was thinking about events in general (what!? I CAN multitask, you know!), and the thought crossed my mind that the 99B events have become rather... routine.

We arrive, drink, drink, eat, drink, drink and then go boxing, if we can (ahem... meaning if there's boxing to be done; sometimes there hasn't been). I was pondering (albeit rather briefly) what I could do to liven things up a bit, make them more memorable and induce more laughter.

Thank you, K, for unintentionally providing the best suggestion of all!

Muwhahahaaa!!

OK guys. Kudos to those that were able to figure out the clues yesterday - but there was something seriously wrong with the code and it has been fixed. Don't know quite what I did...maybe the flonker achieved a wanton on me?!? Anyway - the clues should be better now.

Ok, that does make it considerably easier. Not that it was impossible the other way, just took an extra step!

Why, oh why, is it raining today?

Now - when has theat ever stopped anyone? There's no lightning!
(Though of course I can understand not wanting to return to work looking like a drowned rat!)

Spent many years at the games and one of the worst was when it rained all weekend. Wool does NOT smell good when wet!

Ew! I'd also not want to be too near when they are tossing the caber...a wet caber. It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye! (though likely more than that with a caber tossing about!!)

Do the Games continue when it's raining, or do the participants huddle in their tents and drink McEwan's all day?

According to my brother-in-law who lived in Scotland, those Scots typically order a pint and a dram (of scotch) - a few of those should keep them warm enough!

Most of them go on except for the "most dangerous". I *think* the caber toss is postponed for drier times. Imagine trying to hold a wet, slippery telephone pole by the base and toss it so it goes straight. Wouldn't be easy.

What am I saying????? I can't imagine tossing a DRY telephone pole!

Never mind... I'll just go back to my corner and bake cookies.

how much ale

ALE, ye Sassenach??????

A true Scot drinks whiskey!!! Uisge-beatha--the Water of Life!

(I'll have mine in the single malt version, if you please.)

Tossing the caber makes more sense if you consider it the result of a night of whiskey-drinking.
