So I'm out geocaching this past weekend, and I'm in an area that I suspect might offer some good places to hide a letterbox -- and I was right, I found a great spot. And none of the geocaches were anywhere near it, for some reason. Over a mile round trip hike from anywhere.

But, being a bonehead, I left my letterboxing stuff in the car!

Figuring I might just be able to talk SWMBO into coming back here later to plant a box, I went ahead and looked over the hidey hole carefully. Good but a little tight, it'd be best to use one of my smaller containers.

So after finding all the geocaches in the area -- several miles of hiking -- we decide to go back and plant a letterbox. But, being a bonehead, I left all my small containers at home today! I only have two along, one great big thing that couldn't possibly fit and one medium that might fit. So I pick up that smaller one and we head back out.

When we get to the spot, I check that the container will work -- it will, but just barely -- and then sit down on the grass and start preparations for the planting while my better half counts off some steps for the clues. But, being a bonehead, I left the stamp in the car!

Now it's getting late. A fast hike back to the car and then back down this same trail a third time. Finally get the box planted and get back to the car just after dark, in a park that technically closes at sundown. Both of us had stiff legs Monday.

HAHAHA

We all have our days, don't we?

What is the box called? And is it anywhere near pW and I?

I forget now after which of my many bonehead moves I printed out this image to use for a stamp image. I ended up using something else, but still have the image lying around somewhere.

Now that the fall weather has hit with force here in CO and I'm spending more times indoors, maybe I'll see if I can find it, carve the stamp, and plant a box called something like Boneheads of the World Unite.

As someone who has personally witnesses some of my "DOH!" moments - and heard some of my tales of woe while searching for boxes ... you KNOW I'm up for being in your club, Pre.
