I had an opportunity to check on one of my boxes this week -- one that's in a fee area so I don't get there often. Not many finders, as one might expect for a fee area. But the last finder was worth mentioning here.

It took a while to figure out what had happened, but apparently it was something like this: A family was out walking this particular nature trail, and one of the children accidentally found my box -- and took it home. This particular box had an ink pad due to the need for a particular color, so the child proceeded to stamp one page of the box log book with the box stamp and the box ink pad -- about 20 times. This was a rolled-up type log book, each page was supposed to be big enough for a half dozen logs. One whole page was filled with images from the box stamp.

Then apparently someone in the house took notice and read the introduction note in the box. The next thing they did was call somebody -- they actually wrote in the log about calling somebody, using their real name, noting that apparently this person had once mentioned something like this. It was probably geocaching, of course. I have no idea who it was because I don't know many letterboxers or geocachers by their real names. They mentioned nothing else about the call.

Then they apparently decided the thing to do was to bring the box back -- to the fee area! I hope they had an annual pass or something! They then filled up another entire page of the log book with signatures of the entire family! No stamp images at all, so instead they included a couple of family photos, glued to the page.

It's all back in place now. I added gaskets to the container to ensure that everything remains dry, but otherwise left the log book as is. It's a pretty entertaining read.
