This morning the hubby decided to rinse off a pair of shoes and set them out on the porch railing to dry in the sunshine today. So, off to work we go. We both got home kind of late tonight and then he remembered his shoes.

Suddenly, I heard this laughter coming from the porch. And, of course, he calls my name.

"Remember I rinsed off my shoes this morning?" he asks. I nod my head in the affirmative and then he points to the railing. There in his shoe is all of these twigs and pine needles sticking all out of the top of the shoe. Yep, you guessed it. In about a 12 hour time frame a bird has completely built a nest in his shoe.

Needless to say we expect a shoe full of baby birds to follow. :-)

Amazing story Christine....... and I hope Jeff can get by without the left shoe so you can let birdies stay in it until the young uns fly away.....and keep us posted with pictures. (especially one with Jeff running around in just a right shoe) An album that you add to as they get bigger would be great. How fantastic to watch the progress in the shoe. Humm, I think there was a nursery rhime along those lines but it has been some time since I read it. And no, I am not referring to you as a lady who lives in a shoe.

I was more worried about the OLD part of the rhyme . . . :-D

I'm hoping to snap a couple of photos this morning. Watch for something later today

I tried to get some photos this morning but they are not good at all. I did get a shot of the bird in the shoe but the lighting was terrible. Then she flew over to the cherry tree and hopped from limb to limb until I left to go to work.

I promise photos.
