OK. So I preformed Emergency Two's wedding ceremony yesterday. Jim was very specific that this was not to be a letterboxing wedding. Soooooo... I didn't mention boxing at all. BUT I did give them a slab of everyone's favorite carving material in the ceremony ;-) and this is what I said:

"I like to give a gift as a part of the ceremony. And today, I give you a piece of PZ-Kut. For those of you who aren’t aware, Paula, Jim, and I share a common past-time. We hand-carve rubber stamps, and PZ-Kut is one of the mediums that we use to carve our images. Several things about this piece of rubber are significant to what is happening here in your live today. First I want you to notice that this piece of material is blank. There are no markings on it at all. Today as you begin a new chapter in life, it is also a clean slate. It will be what both of you make of it. I have seen your ability to make something beautiful out of a piece of rubber and I have seen in you the potential for a beautiful marriage. As you begin to prepare the rubber for a stamp you have to select a pattern. This step cannot be overlooked. The images you hope to create will bear a striking resemblance to the patterns that you chose. Choose wisely. Look for patterns that contain the things that you value most, patterns that have proven to be successful and seek to transfer the best aspects into your marriage. After a pattern has been selected and transferred, it is time to carve. In many attempts to teach me how to carve, my father would say, “Just cut away what doesn’t belong.” That is wise advice for marriage as well. As two become one there are some things that don’t belong, selfishness, irritableness, harsh criticism. However, as you cut away what doesn’t belong you must be careful not to slip and remove something important. You must be true to who you are. Be careful not to lose the romance. Don’t let anything compromise your convictions. Be true to who you are. In following these steps you can create a beautiful stamp that people will marvel over. A true “Blue Diamond” beauty. My prayer for you today is that the beauty of your marriage will long outshine whatever you create out of this gift. And that years from now, what you create with the gift of a clean unmarred canvas will become a pattern for others to follow as well."

Just thought I'd include that for those unable to make it.

Congratulations to Emergency Two!

Bubba

It was a lovely wedding with nice weather, too much food, a gorgeous cake and lots of fun. We released butterflies....and there were flower seeds and tree starts for the guests.

The bride and groom were surrounded by friends and family, coming from afar...Texas, Connecticut, and Indiana. The minister came sick and never told a soul.....well, maybe at least one. Thanks to Bubba, the words spoken were original and refreshing. Oh, the bride had one minor melt-down shortly before her walk, but she recovered and all was well. Such is the day of a wedding! There was a toast to the bride and groom using a 9 year old bottle of wine that the bride's father made....he is deceased.

Now is the day after. Folks have gone their separate ways and it is on with our lives.....maybe to have been touched by the ceremony yesterday.

How beautiful! Wishing I had been there as well! THat will be one hard piece of material to carve...might be cool to use it as a mat for a wedding picture and frame it!

No words can even come close to describing what a blessing Bubba was on our wedding day. He made us cry, he made us laugh, and he taught us new things.

I thought for sure when he said, "I am starting a new tradition and giving a gift IN the cermony.." he was FIXIN' to GIVE ME A COOTIE- I just looked at Jim and had to laugh when he handed him the slab.

And, yes, I was thinking, I cannot carve on that piece of rubber- to much symbolism- I just need to figure out the PERFECT thing to do with it!

Bubba is one of THE MOST AWESOMIST FELLAS I know, and I am proud to call him my friend.

Thanks friend, for being a part of the best day of my life.

Paula (Jim is sleeping..lol)

Mom did a great job of filling ya in on all of the other happenings.... **grin**

Carve something significant that represents your marriage and carefully ink it with permanant ink so the image can be easily seen.....then frame it and hang it in your home :o)

I would like to thank bubba the great service that he performed for Paula and I yesterday. We have been talking all day what a great job that it was. We both really enjoyed the PZ cut and his wording was encouraging to all that were there. I would like to thank Bubba again for the great ceremony that he performed for us on our special day.

Bubba, YOU are a true "Blue Diamond", a gem of a human being who blesses all of our lives. Thank you, from the deepest part of my heart, for everything added in your special way to their day. The PZKut was perfect. :-)

Jim was honored to meet you and truly enjoyed your conversations. The inscription in the front of your book from Paula and Jim is all him. :-) (To everyone else, this is my step-father that we're bringing to Greenville tonight!!)

I will never forget Saturday, standing under the pretty blue sky, watching my sister and her guy become part of our extended family, and listening to the ripple of laughter from the front as the letterboxers identified with Bubba's gift. You're just the best!
