Worth a picture

We live in a small town where not much happens. I decided to shake things up a bit at the PO today. I breezed in 5 minutes before closing with a box full of over 30 padded envelopes to mail (kids swap I and II!). Then while she was weighing the first envelope, I plunked a canning jar full of change on the counter and asked our clerk how much a PO box costs. I thought she was going to faint. I wish I had taken a camera.

She was very relieved to find out that all of the envelopes already had their postage on them, and I was headed to the bank with the loose change. But it was totally worth it to see the look on her face!

S~who is really going to get herself in trouble if Spring doesn't get here soon!

That's really funny. I bet the look on her face was priceless. Bet she had a laugh afterwards though :o) Gotta have a sense of humor :o)

ROFL! This is hysterical!

When I worked retail, I couldn't tell you how many times I had people "like you" come in just before closing and do that kind of thing FOR REAL! Yeah, let's count $37 in dimes, this is fun! I bet she had daggers in her eyes for a second or two!

And a very nice box it is! Audacious hide, if you ask me, a pretty busy place and yet the box was in great shape when I found it not too long ago.

Oh my goodness... you almost made me spit my water on the screen, Nitrocat. (note to self: no drinking while reading Nitrocat's posts...)

That also sounds like the kind of thing I would do. Not the brining in a bazillion coins to actually be counted... but the bringing in the coins or the postals with postage to make them THINK it needed counting or postage at the last minute. Gotta stir things up.

So... was she ... forgiving? After you burst out in laughter at her expression and explained the facts?

Now that's funny! Why didn't I think of that??? I've tried to offer up my toddler as payment for postage before, but I didn't get the same response. They know him pretty good there, so they knew better.

I used to manage a little sunglass kiosk in the mall years ago, and we'd get kids come in with jars full of change wanting to buy Oakleys. BUT, the best was when I had a fella ask me if he could use his food stamps to buy a $140 pair of Gargoyles. He was dead serious. Then, when I wouldn't let him, he wanted to sell them to me for cash. Ugh.

I work for a rental car agency ----- I have had customers plop down their health insurance card when I ask them for proof of insurance!

I went into my Post Office yesterday to get the mail and the postmaster (Joe) said to me, "don't have any fat envelopes for you today, I'm sorta disappointed." I just had to laugh. I guess it is fun for him to see how many he can get into my box. Oh the things that keep us entertained at a small town Post Office.

This was my life too --- at the party store, 10 minutes to midnight and here's some flake buying a 12 pack with a jar of change...

Ahhh the pleasures of working with the public.
