We talked about doing this through Ebay, but I figure everyone who might want it is right here on AQ, so we'll just do it ourselves.

Up for auction is the book Up Shit Creek, that Ryan bought, carried and read as he hiked through the Keys. This book is signed by the Green One, AND carries his signature stamp. It is, as stated on the cover, "A Collection of Horrifyingly True Wilderness Toilet Misadventures."

To bid on this item, send me a private AQ mail message with your bid. I'll post whatever the high bid is, here, so if anyone wants to outbid anyone else, they can just send me another AQ mail. Next Monday, at noon, the bidding will end, and whoever's high bidder will win this prize. You'll send me a check, and I'll get the money to Ryan, so he can use it to fund the rest of his travels.

BUT WAIT!! That's not all you get in this amazing package! Also included is the permit issued to Ryan by the Department of the Interior to allow him to hike through the Big Cypress National Preserve.

I know, that would be enough to satisfy even the most rabid Tortuga-Watcher, but there's actually MORE!!! In addition, you'll receive the map that was given to Ryan when he hiked the Big Cypress, to help him navigate around the fires that were burning there.

personally...
I would like to have seen it on ebay.
simply because it is fun to watch an auction like this.
plus those who bid can use bid assistant which helps them increase a bid if they are outbid automatically.

sometimes just watching an auction can create more bids, more interest and high selling price.
besides... the ebay fees are small.

I agree with not using fee-bay. The people that would be interested in bidding on it are from AQ anyway. And maybe some are not members of fee-bay and then they would have to register and give up a credit card number just to bid on one thing. Plus by doing it on here all the money goes to help out GT not what is left after fee-bay has its cut. Kevin
