help doing a show and tell in-person tutorial

For those of you who've done in-person tutorials on 'boxing. I could use a wee bit of help.

For simulaneously selfish and altruistic reasons, I am very seriously thinking of seeking out places (ok one in particular) to get more folks interested in Denver proper, while also giving back/intriguing the already-artistically-inclined to, potentially, get involved.. Colorado is such an outdoor place, it confounds and frustrates me that there aren't more Denver addicts.

Anyway: Here in Denver there is a high-end adult toy...I mean artist supply store...which regularly has workshops with published calender, etc. To me it seems like a perfect match, while still staying pretty low on the radar "publicity-wise."

I haven't approached the store yet, but was in today and asked whom to contact. She was out already anyway, so I'll pop her an email this week.

Before doing so, thought I'd put it out there and "see who salutes" (as my pop always says.)

I'm thinking I'll get one hour tops. And since it's an art store, I'm thinking 20 minutes each on stamp carving and logbook making with tons of show and tell from my own stash and those of the store.

Which means, most likely, like those chefs that come on talk shows...doing tons of prep before hand, to show the process and tools, rather than having folks carve stamps or make books themselves. I'm mostly "good to go" here, but would appreciate any thoughts folks have here.

Which means a mere 20 minutes to go over the basics of the what/where/why/ettiquette/stealthiness/respecting work of others etc. when it comes to boxing itself. I'm more than PREpared to do the CNN-sound bite of these, but want to put together an info sheet for participants to take with them.

Here's the place I could use some help. Aside from a list of websites, tutorials, books, etc...for those of you who've done something like this: Do you have any info sheets you use that you might be willing to share with me as a starting point so I don't have to start from scratch?

Oooh, and of course, when I approach the correct person, I shall be asking about placing a box somewhere in the store :-)

It was implied to me tonight that I'm probably looking at March, or later, so no super rush, but I thought I'd put it out there before sending an email to properly cover all the bases.

Any help/advice/guidance mucho apPREciated.

Thanks!

Not sure if this will help, but here goes. We often address scout and homeschool groups about boxing. Our audience is definitely different than your intended audience, but I'll share what we do. We start with a skit. My daughter and I come in from the back talking about the clues. She's a teenager so she has 'tude, course. My young son's role is to run in covered in dirt with twigs sticking out of his hair, and my husband is a boxer we meet on the trail. Through the whole 5 minute skit we touch different aspects of boxing: the clues, the stamp, an exchange, a hitchhiker, and even a cootie. But, on top of it all we emphasize family time and discoveries, like when I almost walked right into the biggest gator I'd ever seen outside of Busch Gardens, or watching a hawk dive for prey, or spiders that glitter like jewels on the side of a tree at night. After the skit, we then go into explanations of everything they just saw. The skit is filled with tropes and cliches but it works to get their attention. Again, our purpose and audience are different, but you might glean something from this idea.
Hope it helps.

Preboxed,

I have to apologize. When I read:

"Anyway: here in Denver there is a high-end adult toy..."

The first thing I thought of is a different "adult toy"

"What type of shops does Preboxed frequent?"

hehehe ...sorry

S~N~K

Maybe I should take my afternoon nap
