ink pads...
this is not just a shameless plug for the ink pads that i sell...
cause frankly... my stock is VERY low on them right now.
but in my HONEST opinion...
the best and my favorite inks are the dewdrop ink pads.
they don't dry as fast as dye based ink but they don't bleed through over time either.
the blackest black I have ever seen is the Graphite Black "Brilliance" ink.
it comes in a big pad or the dewdrops which are smaller teardrop shaped pads perfect for on the trail. they are small but are literally PACKED with ink. can ya tell that i truly LOVE them? :)
i hate trying to use markers on the trail. yuck
here is a link but again...
I a out of several of them until after January but this gives you an idea.
Stampeaz and places like AC Moore also carries them.

tip:
one thing i also did...
cause i use so much black...
i took an old used up ink pad of another color but also pigment ink and filled it with the black ink from the re-inker bottle. I use it all the time.

I've heard that meets are often likened to speed dating. I've been to 2 meets, well 3 if you include SMAX's birthday party, and they were all small ones. I am nervous about this HUGE one. It takes me a while to come out of my shell around groups of people. But once I do, watch out!!!

Ditto - to everything ;-))
ACMoore carries the regular size Brilliance black ink pad. I prefer the dewdrop size, but I've used the larger one in an "emergency" ;-))
I use my collection of dewdrops like markers on the trail. I do take markers to an event, but rather grudgingly..... ask Wolf how much I complained about the quilt squares in Burnsville - worth the effort - but those darn markers ;-P
And definately have a good black for Dixie's stamps! Mine are always solid color, so black is ok - but I'll get really crazy and branch out to brown and sometimes green as well......

Ah, but I thought of that! Mine did not require markers-- only 2 different colors of ink.

I stand corrected - you are right! I'm focusing on you, because you made the announcement to bring markers and different colored ink pads... ;-)) I need to blame Knit Wit and Penguin Patrol.... ;-)) Possibly only Knit Wit - there was one in particular that I sat out in a parking lot in blazing July sun and I swear it had 15 colors - ok, maybe only 5, but in the 90 degree heat, it felt like 15!!!
Of course, that's not the fault of the carver, it's my fault for going boxing on a hot July day ;-))
Mama Fox - not good with heat these days.........

*snicker* yep, that was mine! Sorry about that, but just think of how many times I had to ink it up to check my carving.
So far for my recent plants, I think black is a good choice. The only one of my plants for the event that you really need a specific color for is "What Color Did You Call That?" from the Motor Speedway series. You really need blue, though solid blue might work (ink pad). I do suggest you go for a medium blue rather than dark or light.
Otherwise, a black ink pad will do for the others.

Yes, My wife and I learned at our 1st event that it is extremely helpful to figure out the answers for the personal travelers (and write down the answers, and bring them with) otherwise you end up standing there in front of somebody going "I know that, I know that I found the answer.
