You think you have e-mail problems? Ha!

I'm downloading my mom's e-mail for her. It's been going for about 2 1/2 hours now. Granted, I am on a dial-up connection, but that's still a long time to be download e-mail, and it's still going.... Grand total, 4786 messages out of 5293 have been downloaded. Almost there!

Most of it is spam, but sheeze.... *shaking head* It's like she's signed up to receive spam by the boatloads or something. I've never seen anything like this!

In other news.... Actually, there isn't really any other news. Spent most of the day at the library still working on all those addresses from the Last Big Update. I don't think I'll get that done before my hike starts, but I figure I'll have gone through at least 80% before my break.

I've also decided I want to buy a new digital camera for the hike. The only reason I'm looking at a new camera is to get one with a higher resolution. Then maybe I can turn them into a Florida Trail calendar without needed to find quotes to fill up all that extra space around the photo. =) Nothing wrong with my current camera--it's served me well--but I really need higher resolution photos if I'm going to use them in calendars.

Carved a stamp today. Still need to carve something as a personal traveler for letterboxers I meet while on the Florida Trail. Actually, I have a stamp I've already carved that would work, but I want to carve something more interesting than the stamp I already have. This existing stamp is really better for planting, not as a personal traveler.

I need to make some logbooks, but my logbook making materials are off in Seattle. *frown* Rather inconvenient for me at the moment.

Oh, yesterday, after over two months, I've finally got the last of the "paperwork" done for transferring my accounts from NetBank to ING Direct. =) The last official act was setting the PIN on my debit card to something unique, easy-to-remember, but hard to guess. I suspect I'll be using this card a lot while I'm on the trail. ;o) That was the last thing I needed to do to complete the "conversion." It would have happened faster if I didn't have this dual-citizenship going between Washington and California, though. That mucks a lot of stuff up. =) Actually, I want to go out tomorrow and use an ATM to get $20 just to double check that the card and PIN work as expected. No reason to think it wouldn't, but I prefer to trust *and* verify. ;o)

Ah, at long last, my mom's e-mail has finished downloading. Out of over 5,000 messages, only 80 of them were not classified as spam. And looking through them, it appears most of them actually ARE spam, but going through 80 messages instead of 5000+ is still a huge improvement!

I'm off to work on other stuff now. Happy trails! =)

She sounds like my mom. I keep telling her, "Mom, after you read an email, delete it."

And, I have tried to convince her to not give out her email address to every Tom, Dick or Harry.com. She doesn't listen. She obviously doesn't know that you can click the box at the bottom of the page that says, "I do NOT want to receive updates, newsletters, etc".

So, when her box gets full she has someone from the IT dept come down to help her get rid of all the emails. That's another thing, she won't get a personal email that would block spam.

Mothers, what are we going to do with them?

save yourself the ATM fees and use this at a store. Buy a pack of gum and pay using your debit card then you have the option to get cash back, with out the associated fees. but then you probably already knew that.

I'm sure I speak for all of us in Florida when I say, "Yippee!" I also need to get your new sig stamp as an exchange, since I only have the old one. I haven't changed, so you have mine, but I'm trying to figure out what I can offer in exchange for the new one. Maybe I could dig up the old one I used back in the beginning . . .

Actually, that's another reason I want to use an ATM. =) Supposedly, I can use it at any ATM that supports the AllPoint network at no cost for me, and I want to make sure that really is the case! Supposedly, it lets me get money out of something like 32,000 ATMs around the country for free.

You know, you could just bribe me with a lift to Key West on New Years Day. That would be a really good bribe! ;o)

Well, gee whiz, I've volunteered for that already! I was thinking along the lines of a stamp for a stamp, but hey, if I can get your new one without coming up with anything new, I'm okay with that!
