Lol, yes! We've gotten some snow before and it usually doesn't stick until we get a big one like this one. The ground has to freeze first for it to stick. Until then it just kind of blows away or "somewhat melts" which means it just disappears I guess but doesn't leave puddles or anything.

I got home yesterday and another thoughtful neighbor actually plowed our driveway all the way to the backyard so my husband's pre-snowfort plans were trashed and he has to start over. He didn't complain too much tho, it pushed a lot of snow back for him that he was going to have to shovel over to the spot, so now he's just moving it back a couple of feet. Which makes me sad b/c I was counting on the fort banking the house and helping with the warmth.

Our neighbors are so great like that, we chat with them when we see them but when we try to thank them (when we can figure out which one did it) they just kind of wave us off like it was no big deal. I don't usually see them doing it for others in the 'hood unless it's a big big snow so I don't know if they just think we're idiots that don't know how to shovel or if they're just avoiding us being outside and shoveling and singing at the top of our lungs by doing it for us before we get home from work.

I know some neighbors who are getting banana bread once my bananas finish turning ; )

A short cut you can take to help your bananas turn is to put them in the freezer and let them freeze. Then when the melt they are like they were supposed to be in the first place, soft and mushy:) You can also save bananas that way for making bread later if time doesn't let you do it right when they do turn;)

You just totally made my day, thank you for this info!!! I had no idea and just bought some "discounted" almost brown ones and set them in my pantry to wait out.

Because it can bring fruitflies (yes even in winter and I don't know why) I don't like to have too many around or for too long, so this is going to be awesome AND it means I can buy more bananas and make extra bread, woooooo!!!!

This is how I felt when my friend let me in on the secret:) She makes banana bars that are to die for:) And I asked how she always had pans of it when she needed and she told me she froze the bananas:) I think I have since seen it on Good Eats to with Alton making Ice Cream or something.

I freeze my bananas by peeling, wrapping in seran and throwing in my freezer.

I'll put one in my blender with juice and other frozen fruit (blueberries or blackberries or strawberries) and make a smoothie that is frozen but doesn't have ice in it. My blender always leaves huge hunks of ice cube.

Healthy and quick and an alternate use for bananas that have turned, as there only so much banana bread I can eat. . .

When our bananas get riper than my family will eat, I've always sliced them before putting them in baggies then into the freezer. I find the frozen, sliced ones easier to deal with when making smoothies, banana bread, etc.

I've never thought of freezing my bananas before they go bad. What a great idea. Thanks!
