The one I got was bought locally but It came from Lousiana. It was a bit pricey but I figured I wasn't going to be buying one but once every few years.

Well, you'd think my in-laws (in Louisiana!) would buy one, but, NOOOO, they don't like them.

Sheesh, I just want to try it once but I don't want to have to pay $100 to get one shipped to me.

It's a stuffed boneless chicken inside of a boneless duck inside of a boneless turkey.

That sounds...wrong. :D Maybe it's the boneless part... I mean, what does it end up looking like? Nasty! :D

Here's a link so you can see what they look like. They leave the legs and wings on the turkey so it just looks a little odd.

I think I'll stick with my turkey.... The new change I've made in my Thanksgiving menu last year is I now make pumpkin soup.

I love turducken =o) I made one last year and will do again this year. They are really much easier to do than one might think, and WAY less expensive than buying =o)

Cheers!

Could you post the directions? I'm really lost on how to debone a bird. I think I can figure out how to shove one into another =8)

I don't know either, but I have a friend who debones his turkey, including legs and wings. Then sews it back together and stuffs it full of stuffing (including legs and wings). Then, he cooks it to perfection. To serve it, he just slices the whole thing and the slices look like a turkey and stuffing loaf. I've already asked them if I can join them for Thanksgiving dinner next year! His wife just told me about this scrumptious feast last week. I've been drooling ever since. His wife said that it is a lot of work for him to debone the turkey but he's been doing it for years.

I saw that one too. I figured it would be cholesterol on a plate so I'd pass.

Still want a shot at turducken one day...

Turducken inside a pig--only in Louisiana--I miss Cajun food!

You all would starve around here - the only urkey at our table begins with Tof!

My crazy carnivorous neighbor actually asked me last night if I ever DREAMED of meat. Weird.

Oh yeah? How about this: Bicowturduckenageese — Cheese stuffed in sausage stuffed in a chicken stuffed in a duck stuffed in a turkey stuffed in a slab of cow stuffed in a side of bison.

Where's the knife and fork!?!?!

I've read somewhere...a long time ago...

That in some country, they have the insanity of starting with whole hard boiled eggs...and ending with a camel

=0/

S~N~K

But I would like to try turduckin sometime.

Have ya'll ever had deep fried turkey? Oh man! It's incredible!

Here are some other directions that I have used, and I think they are quite good... with pictures and everything =o)

http://homecooking.about.com/od/turkeyrecipes/ss/turduckensbs.htm

Specifically how to debone the turkey:
http://homecooking.about.com/od/turkeyrecipes/ss/deboneturkeysbs.htm

The mention kitchen shears as a possible utensil, but a small, sharp knife really makes the deboning process surprisingly easy.

Enjoy!

And then it all gets stuffed inside of YOU. The final carapace for meat mountain.

Personally, I'd eat almost any meat stuffed in almost any meat, but for my husband, we eat the tofurky as well!
This is our first year with geese and we didn't get all the eggs out from under mama, so we have gosling. DH and I agree that we can't keep the 3 goslings. He says if they're going to be butchered (we still looking for homes for them), then it may as well be me that eat them. I admit, I'd like to try one.

Has anyone here cooked goose?
