So,

I just had to fire somebody, which is my least favorite part of my job. I hate it, hate it, hate it. But this time was far from ordinary.

During the process, I'm speaking to the the person I'm firing and standing up...

Let me backtrack a little here. Myself and the other guy that works in this room work a lot of hours. So we eat a lot in the office. Sometimes (particularily wing night) the office can get, well, a little, stinky. So the other guy took it upon himself to install one of those timed air fresheners that go off every so often. Every 38 minutes, this little machine sets off a blast of scented spray. Lilacs I beleive. Well, my workmate failed to inform me of this contraption that was discretely hidden, about 5 feet 11 inches above the floor (read that as "eye level for Mr. Yuk") amongst the potted plants.

Lets get back to the firing. I'm explaining to my soon-to-be-former employee why they are getting termed, and mid sentence, I hear this "Phhhht" and experience a curious BURNING STINGING OH MY GOD THAT HURTS sensation in my eyes.

By the end of me flailing and cursing around the office the person I'm firing is in tears forom laughing, and she said that was the best time she's ever had being fired.

Gosh, that sucked.

Sorry for your pain, Mr. Yuk, but thanks for making me laugh. I really needed it!!! I just read it to my husband upon entering from work and it made him laugh too!! =]

Now, um....aside from Yukky hilarity....doesn't this imply that she's been fired more than once? Which in some small way might make up for the sucky part of the job, and the being squirted....

Firing someone is never easy (I would assume) and getting that stuff in your eye really hurt, but ohmygawd, that was funny!

When I first read the title of this post and the first sentence of the story, I thought your eye was hurting from being punched after firing someone. LOL

After reading this thread, I was wondering if the item # 250 1084 from x-tremegeek.com has made an appearance in your office yet? Probably should order the refill pack, too!
Seems like it could find a happy home in your office while having a little fun with the "deodorizer installer" during some of those late evenings spent there.
But please be careful where you aim...no eye patches come with this...we dont want anymore eye troubles! K?!
