I still consider myself a newbie to boxing. The first few I found were in ziploc bags...the box/container itself. I learned shortly after planting my first couple that the bag on the outside can do more harm than good by trapping moisture around the bag causing growth of icky stuff or by being a hazard to animals who nibble on them, etc.
I use LnLs almost exclusively, so I think as long as they are closed up correctly they will be just fine.
So, a friendly reminder to fellow boxers - please don't add a baggie to the outside of a LB that doesn't already have one. If the baggies inside are in need of replacement -- go for it.

I've recently found 3 or so LBs that had baggies on the outside (which I left intact) that were obviously a curious find for some critters. Hope they don't get sick eating the plastic!

oooh, i put one of mine in it because i didnt have a container that closed all the way securly...well it snapped shut, but thats with me closing it...kids who come by might not be able to close it all the way properly, and i didnt want it getting wet. i plan on replacing the container sometime soon. thanx for the heads up :0)

That's cool. It's a preference thing, too. Some boxers use them all the time, some use them with a container that might not be closed correctly or that might not be water-tight -- I get that. That's why I chose to leave the ones I've found in ziplocs as they were. In fact, one was in a ziploc that was chewed up, but I HAD to put back in the bag because otherwise the contents would be all over the place. The container had been in place for a couple of years and had not faired very well...as a result, it wouldn't close at all!
