I am a "ghost person" and this site has already lost credibility with me...
I looked up 5 local towns...
I got through three of them and saw straight away that the site has duplicated stuff...
or at least partially so.
it almost seems like the stuff in it comes from one of those web quote generators where the same names & things are plugged into random sentences.

example:
A female body with a goats head showed up climbing out of a manhole on a Balsam street in the early morning hours. The eye witness was frightened and ran away.

A female body with a goats head is sometimes witnessed watching TV in a Cherokee living room late at night.

The ghost of a man in a police uniform showed up climbing out of a manhole on a Sylva street in the early morning hours.

A male body with the head of a pig has been observed on a few occasions playing a piano in a Sylva home.

A male body with the head of a pig has often been witnessed playing a piano in a Cherokee home.

A partially decomposed human body can be seen very often trying on shoes in a Balsam house.

A wandering spirit can be witnessed very often trying on shoes in a Cherokee house.

The ghost of a man dressed in a military uniform has sometimes been seen snooping in people's mailboxes around midnight in Balsam.

A headless man is sometimes witnessed snooping in people's mailboxes around midnight in Cherokee.

The ghost of a security guard with a bullet hole in his forehead has been seen on numerous occasions in a deserted area outside Bryson City.

The ghost of a security guard with a bullet hole in his forehead was observed wandering through a Sylva area graveyard

This is just a sampling of the ridiculously similar and far fetched "sightings"
I realize now that the site is one where anyone can write in with ghost stories...
I just wonder...
does no one at least try try to weed through some of the mumbo jumbo?

Try this site

http://theshadowlands.net/places/virginia.htm

The descriptions here match up with the local stories that I'm already familiar with.
