I love every August when the fall harvest season beers come back into season! I just can't get enough of them! Maybe it is because fall is my favorite time of year! There is not anything like being out in the woods with the leaves all changeing colors, shades of reds, yellows, and oranges every where and a nice fall beer in your hand!! I love it!

I have two favorite fall time beers! My favorite is Saranac Pumkin Ale, and my second favorite is Sam Adams Octoberfest!

The Pumkin Ale you would think would be horrible with pumkin spices in it, but it is absolutely delicious! MMMM!!! If you can get ahold of this beer you need to try it! I actually have carved the logo for this beer into a stamp. I did it last fall when the beer came into season. It was one of my first plants.

The Sam Adams Octoberfest is a wonderful beer as well you can read about it on Sam Adams website. unfortunately you can't link right to the Octoberfest page.

Fall certainly is pretty, and there's nothing better than boxin' with beer-in-hand... but my favorite beer season is winter, when all the rich, heavy, high-alcohol winter warmers hit the shelves. With a minimum ABV of 8%, after two of them it gets harder to carve a straight line...

We need to do a series "Just how drunk was I when I carved that"

Last night I was carving the Pacifico stamp... I started the evening with a Victory Golden Monkey (9% ABV) and moved on to Sierra Nevada Pale Ales (5.6%). At one point (approaching the 0300 hour) I was... um... impaired and a little drowsy.

My eyes closed... and when I opened them I realized (with just a little horror) that I had partially carved my way right through something I wasn't supposed to. The good thing: you can't notice it unless you started prodding the stamp with a blunt tool to see where I goofed.

Lesson: If you're gonna CUI, at least have the sense to take your tool off the stamp before you nod off!

Ooh! Haven't had the Saranac pumpkin ale! I have had several others. The best was one at a local brewpub. The second best had the headless horseman on the label...can't remember what it was though. They're good REALLY cold...makes me think of late october that way!
