TRex and hawkeye have done a lot of night planting down here. The first thing you need to know is that it is a LOT more work. You have to walk the place in the daylight to scout it out, then go back at night to hang markers/paint, then go back in the day to make sure you can't SEE the markers during the day, then go back at night and make sure you can actually follow them... and that you can get OUT when done since you only put markers to be seen for the direction going in, not back out, so you may have to add some more or find a way to loop them out. The box still has to be well hidden b/c you still have muggle issues when others may be there during the day, and VERY IMPORTANT, it needs to be a place you can actually go to at night!!! For example, most parks close at dusk so you can't take people there. And if you park them at a cemetery, does the minister live next door and will they come over to see what is going on or will they call the cops? A completely different kind of stealth is required and you have to be ready to explain your reason for being there if someone does "catch" you since you likely cannot have a "good" one.

Where do you put fire tack? On trees, occasionally, just like the blazes painted on a trail in the woods; every so often you put one on a tree to let them know where they are going then when the time comes, angle them off into the woods to "the spot". As for the box itself, no, usually what happens is that at the hide there will be a few different pieces of fire tack to indicate that you are at the end.

So I guess my advise is be careful jumping into the designed Night Boxing waters; while fun, they are not something you can just "throw together"; it will take many trips, trial runs, and a lot of work. And even with all that work, it may be for nothing. hawkeye had a great 5 box series that literally took about an hour of walking through the woods at night that only lasted a few months since they area where they were hidden was bulldozed to build stuff a short time later.

And be sure to rehide the boxes better than you found them.

Good lawd it's getting FUN in Denver......FINALLY - after about 2 years - some serious fun! (For pre at least) I belong to the FUN: Pass It Along Club....with modifications, of course....for crying out loud life is short.....Make Stuff UP that PREtends to be orginal---ish!....)

As I logged into a box toNIGHT (with a flashlight) and after 2 trips waiting for the ghost ...I mean coast to be clear.....I wrote/thought/scrawled something like "PREflective"

I know it's been done at ..ummm...some NY meets at least....Where should I start to learn more, linky-wise so that I might begin to learn where the Fun Club could begin? At least one "needs" to PREview by Halloween.....so I need to get busy....Doable!

I went and read Eidolon's play recounting the night finding JDog's 1000 box. What a hoot! I loved it, and what a milestone memory for JDog.

I've never been night boxing (I stumble in daylight!) so I never even considered it. Now, I want to go night boxing!

A) For the literal-mindend amongst us: Find a box at night, with a flashlight....reflect on this new experience...even if it wasn't meant to be a "night box"...This is COOL...think about it.. 'cause that sure is the ONLY way one is gonna snag this box.

Then there's the fact someone else besides me placed a box in Denver (this is changing....after 2 years - wahoo)

Anyway: How might one ....Pass along the fun and HOW might it be done in time for Halloween? Writing in the dark is not easy. Ghost/coast to be clear.....HELLO! Those creative NY types have done this, haven't they?

B) For those who got it/creative souls - THANKS muchly for the ideas! I'm reading up in time for Halloween.
