A Guide to Who's Who:
Ryan: "Ryan" is the silly trail name used by Green Tortuga. He claims to be the author of "AtlasQuest" and is always pretending to be helpful, when in fact everyone knows that AtlasQuest is really no more than an off-the-shelf Microsoft FrontPage macro, with a few of the icons changed.
Eidolon: Ryan's Mysterious Nemesis from the East. His self-proclaimed 'boxing prowess is a myth of his own concotion, despite the fact that his name is an anagram of "Do no lie".
Wassa: The less said, the better. Which is what people are ALWAYS saying about wassa's posts.
Chadams: Beer swilling, disc flinging fool, who somehow, despite the odds, was able to hook up with the charming Lady Lilac. Proof that opposites attract.
Mr Yuk: Interestingly, his name is an anagram of "Krumy". We shall leave it as an excercise for the reader to determine the appropriateness of this.
Starsaels: Always bringing up the rear. Appropriately, his name can be anagramed as "Arses Last".
Amanda from Seattle: Who is she, and where is she from? I refuse to say anything bad about Amanda. She is kind, thoughtful, and intelligent, despite her penchant for dating unsavory characters.
Hope this helped!

I guess that's better than "murky" which could really shade meanings not stated hereinbeforementioned, hereinaftermentioned, infra or supra. And we're not talking about cars.

This event has boxers signed up from all over and Wassa and Eidolon and Shiloh. Hey where was Shiloh in the list of who's who? Oh yeah, even Sapphireberry from my neck of the woods signed up.

As of yet!!! :-)
My thought is that if right from the get go the event is labled as an attempt to be a national gathering that people would make more of an attempt to make it. not saying that it couldn't be this one, just saying I would hate to take my idea and leech onto someone elses idea. Instead of making Lb Con fit into anothern persons vision of their planned gathering and starting from scratch. just tossing ideas around though. I would still love to hear more suggestions though!

Very funny.
I was joking actually. I've met at least half of those people and read too many posts to count from the others.

Do you know how hard it is to come up with an anagream for wassamatta_u? The best I could come up with is:
Was as a mutt, a?
if you had one less 'a' and one more 's', you could do:
Saw a mutt a**. (see? I'm a good boy speedsquare, didn't swear that time!)

Yep, that's close to it, and I sure wish I had a snowball's chance of being able to go to it. Finances aren't going to swing a trip to the Left Coast before the kids are out of college, I'm afraid.

I suggest LAS VEGAS!!!!!!! That city is king of "Cons". Just an idea, I'm always looking for an excuse to go to Vegas. (Do I really need one?)

Vegas- I'm there- we got 2 last March in the Red Rock Canyon. We want the race track one! We also took a day trip to Needles, Ca (Moabi Route 66 Stamps) and tried to get to Oatman, AZ but it was too dark by the time we got there...What a great time! The next day, we hit St. George Utah- Beautiful Drive! And think of the money I saved by not staying in the casino all day!

This the only reason I would ever book a flight to Vegas. DH would go just to people-watch ('cuz I hold the pocket-book); I would head for the hills. But anyone give a thought to the fact that a CON would guarantee that the secret would be completely gone with all the publicity Cons get? Even in my sleepy town we had 2 big events that left all state park campgrounds and hotels completely booked last weekend ... Autumn Oaks Coonhounds and the Skydiving Boogie. I had to stay away from both events, because, what would happen if I came home with a beagle pup and then didn't recover from my first jump?

YEs!! And the theme could be: What happens at an LB event, STAYS at an LB event.... No need to explain the inky fingers, exacto cuts on the hands, and the little bits of rubber stuck to our clothes!

LB Con....location?

Wouldn't it be best to have it located as near the geographical center of the U.S. as possible?
If you have it on the east coast then the west coast folks have a long way to travel and vice versa.
I'm all for a national gather though. Every other sport/hobby seems to have a national convention of some kind.

I agree. Traveling sinks bad enough without having to stretch it out any further than you have to go. Making it in the middle of the U.S. seems fair enough.
I would love to see if this actually happens. Count me in if it does!

OK since it really looks like there is certainly enough of an interest in LB Con, I think it is time to move forward to the next step! The planning!!! I really do think it would be best for an event like this, to start the planning from scratch, and create a new event. That way everyone can have input in to the where, when, hows, etc. etc. SO the first two major questions are where and when. We will start with the where.
Shiloh wrote:
I completely agree, that for at least LB Con 1, it should be in the general vicinity of the center of the country. As fun as some where like Vegas would be, I am betting that holding this event there might get a little too pricey for some people. The states that are closest to the center of the country are Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, and Missouri. I have never been to any of the states so I have no idea what kind of places these are, other than some stereotypes (Kansas is flat and full of farmer's fields). I am sure some others out there could share some neat ideas about these places. I am not saying it has to be in one of these states either, but I think the closer to one of them the better. We want to be in as convenient an area as possible for as many people as possible. Probably not the best ideas to favor one coast or the other. Opinions on that?
Another question is, would it be better to have an event of this magnitude in a Convention hall/center or still outside in a park somewhere. I think that this is a really intriguing question. Our hobby is mostly based around the outdoors, but an indoor place might better serve the purpose. Thoughts anyone??
Does anyone know of a really cool convention hall or a really cool park anywhere in the center of the US?
Speaking of where, Would most people rather find somewhere with camping near by or stay in hotels? I normally would say camping all the way, but if people are flying in it might be hard to fly with your camping gear. Well, unless you are like Ryan and like sleeping under the stars! :-)
The next question would be the when. I completely understand the planning will take a LONG time and it will be hard for a lot of people to save the money to go. So the farther away we plan it the more people I am sure would be able to save up enough to attend. I certainly wouldn't want to rush and put on this event quickly. If it is going to be done it should be done right, whatever right may be! So I guess to start what would people like best as far as rough estimate of there preferred time to have this event? I believe the absolute earliest it could work would be summer of '08, but I actually think that may be rushing it too. What would your vote be?
Summer '08
Fall '08
Winter '08
Spring '09
Summer '09
Fall '09
Winter '09
some time into '10
The more I think about this idea the more I love it! I really would LOVE to see this become a reality! There are so many exciting things we could do with this! The possibilities are endless!
I can't wait to hear what everyone's thoughts are!
