I've been amused to see the Boxcar Children books have been mentioned so many times recently, just as I was getting ready to log on and share my own short story about them...
Last week I was getting ready to read "The Boxcar Children" to my almost-5-year old daughter. We did some nice pre-reading strategies of looking at the cover of the book and talking about the title. I pointed out the picture of the boxcar on the cover and explained that it was part of a train. Then I asked her what she thought might be inside the car. Swear to God, she said it would be full of stamps!!!! (You know, a box-car!) Ah, that's my little letterboxer. :)
Still chuckling,
Mama Bear

I LOVE IT!
this summer as we peeked into for sale camper on our walk I pointed out the little tiny storve, table . sleeping are and frefridgerator, ginny said to me (4 1/2yr) "mommy, is there hay in the refridgerator?" she thought it was one of the trailers for pulling horses so of course it would have hay for the the horses in the fridge.
