Has anybody seen or played the Cornhole Toss?

Apparently this game is all the rage right now. I found a little info online, but wanted to see if anyone has had firsthand experience with either making or buying the boards and bags...

Any help would be appreciated :-)

I got my cornhole tossed out of a couple of places in my younger days, but I don't think that's what you're talkin' about ;->

I've played...it seems to be huge in Indiana righht now. The construction can't be that bad....it's a board with a hole in it. The bags feel as if they have real beans inside...probably a smallish bean, like the size of a black bean.

Of all the things you'd never thought you'd see on an AQ board:

I got my cornhole tossed

I don't know how I could make that funnier.

Funny, I've never heard of it. But maybe I'm too out of the Indiana loop by being so close to Chicago. :)

I had never heard of it until I moved to Kentucky. I can't go anywhere without someone wanting to play. I've played quite a few times now, it's fun. I first learned of it at a friend's family reunion, during which four guys ran outside yelling, "We're going corn-holing!" So...I had questions.

Here's the answers:
There are two boards 27 feet apart with a hole in each board. The players take turns tossing small bean bags at each board trying to reach 21 points before the other person/team does.

A bag landing on the board = 1 point
A bag going in the hole = 3 points

If someone from the other team lands their bags on the board, you subtract that number of points from your points earned in the round to see how many points you get to keep, unless they land more bags than you do, in that case, they subtract the total of your points from that turn from their points. It's a lot easier to play than it is to type.
Anyway, it's good for 2 or 4 players.

I actually just found a website for the "American Cornhole Association" !!! (Way!) Their website is: http://www.playcornhole.org/

There are tournaments and rules, hats and shirts and everything! Holey cornhole! Now maybe I need to make a cornhole stamp!

I actually think they're filled with corn kernels - hence "corn" hole.

Sooo...like cheap Toss Across? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toss_Across

Not sure which is more shocking on that website, the fact that there IS a Wiki on Toss Across or that it includes a whole section on STRATEGY! It's TOSS ACROSS, not RISK!

Step 1: Throw beanbag
Step 2: Get hacked off when beanbag doesn't turn your way
Step 3: Invite little brother to play Toss At instead of Toss Across
Step 4: Get sent to room when little brother whines about beanbag welts upside his head

Strategy here? Possibly perfect bribery technique so little brother doesn't tattle on you, or have leverage to keep him from doing so ("I'll tell that you we're hogging the tv yesterday!")

I haven't yet played full-contact cornhole (Sprite & Highlander, put down those bags!) but I do play the original. It's really a blast, especially with a beer. Or six.

Local lore says it was invented here on the westside/bestside of Cincinnati.

Ok... sad but true... we just started a cornhole league here at work. One of the guys here makes the boards and has volunteered three of his sets so that members of the league can play on the lunch hour twice a week.

I've talked to the guy that makes the boards and he says that a lot of hard work goes into a good set. The surface of the boards have to be sanded REALLY smooth -- so that you have the possibility of knocking other players bags off -- or worse, through the hole. He has also said there are only certain kinds of paint that you can use if you want to finish the board in... your team colors, for example.

Lordy! I think we witnessed a cornhole game when we went to hunt for Sleepy Hollow. The apparatus was pretty fancy there. Seems like it could get pretty exciting after several cases of beer and drunken relatives. We have full-contact euchre here, this must be the next novelty.

DH laughed all the way back to the car. He needed some TP ...

I'm so surprised at how many people are unfamiliar. I didn't realize it's still a "local" thing. We gave away 10 handmade sets at our company picnic last year. The bar where I used to work now has leagues and playoffs, etc. There are very few people left in Cincinnati who don't know what it is.

Enjoy - it can become addicting. =)

In high school on band trips we would play euchre and winner would give losers what we called "frogs" where we would lick our first and second fingers and slap the inside forearm to create what usually became a welt if you were bad at it, lol.

Then I went to college and learned to play drinking euchre. Good times and the pain didn't happen until the next morning!

Actually, now that I think about it, that was the last time I played euchre.
