Our local newspaper is a hoot. My fiance works there so I'm usually in the know about stuff that seems really odd to non-locals. For instance, there's a section in there called Police & Fire and they report almost everything that happened the day before (unless someone's lawyer gets them out of it apparently) but how they do it sometimes is hilarious! For instance, if someone gets in a fight at the bar, it's referred to as something like, "an altercation involving fists in a local watering hole." Or if someone tries to bring marijuana over the border, the police were called to confiscate the "forbidden leafy substance" or once even, "a marijuana cigarette, also known as a "reefer" was observed in the ashtray." But it turns out that the guy who writes it just has a weird sense of humor and gets bored easily, so that's why it's like that.

Today our engagement announcement was in the paper. I really didn't expect it to happen for a couple of weeks because I just handed him the stuff for it last week and figured it would take him a while to do it, but he surprised me. But he sent me a text and told me we were on the front page. People at the paper took a lot of pictures of us at the Kiss concert this past Friday and I thought we'd be in the "smiling faces" section or something, they still haven't stopped talking about that. He says, no, try engagements. I wrote back and was like, they aren't on the front page, what are you up to? And no response... so I went and got it. They put OUR picture, in color on the front page saying to go to page 6 for local engagements and wedding announcements. And then we're on page 6 obviously. They never ever do that! And he says he wasn't any part of it either (he's tried for stuff like that before, it doesn't happen). I'm so pumped, I thought that was just awesome and I had to share, lol!
