This week, I have received two messages (from different people) stating that they were unable to find entire series of boxes at Harkness and Bluff Point. I have been unable as of yet to go down and check on the boxes personally, but I fear that someone may be purposefully pulling our boxes. At this point, it seems as though only traditional boxes are involved, and not mystery boxes.

I have contacted the DEP to see whether they have changed their position on letterboxing in state forests and parks. If they have, I asked them whether their rangers have been pulling the boxes. If so, I also inquired on how we could get our boxes back, and perhaps find some resolution to the problem. However, if this is not a ranger or DEP issue, we have an even bigger problem.

Until this problem is resolved, I have pulled all clues to my boxes which are in state forests or parks. I would strongly suggest anyone who has traditional boxes on letterboxing.org, to archive their clues for now. If you have found any boxes in state parks or forests recently and have not logged your finds for boxes in state forests or parks, please do so immediately. We need to pinpoint where the problems are, and what boxes have been affected.

I'll ask my park ranger today. He knows about letterboxing, but is only in charge of Middlesex County state parks. He doesn't have issues with it. He likes anything that brings people to the parks. He may know something about this, though. I'll find out what I can.

This is not only happening in state parks. My boxes at Uconn Avery Point have gone missing too.

I think the people who are taking our boxes are looking at the letterboxing.org site. The reason I think this is because two of the boxes that they didn't find, they tried to find, by tearing apart the stone walls. However, they didn't find them because I had screwed up on the clues on the letterboxing.org site, but they were correct on the atlasquest site.

I strongly suggest archiving all boxes on letterboxing.org in the New London area until this problem seems to have subsided. We can only hope that they haven't already printed out clues to hundreds of boxes, just waiting to go out and steal them.

I'm not saying that the boxes are missing from gillettes castle it just seemed they were because the last finds for today (22nd) on letterboxing.org were attempts and I definitely found the boxes on the 20th

Sorry, long day of weeding, no letterboxing and just plain makes me sad that people can be so crummy.....

well, for those who may have caught my other post about the alien invasion,
i am slowly realizing that now might not be a great time to act like a mean not caring alien.
so before i post anymore about the invasion of redding bbq next month,
i wanted everyone and anyone to understand,

I know this is silly but I don't really care that they stole the boxes. I find it annoying that they rehid the locations to make it appear as though a box was still hidden in the spot.

Hi, you guys. Chuck and I are up from Maryland and we had planned our "big day" for Tuesday at Rocky Neck. Please don't pull any boxes there. We will go ahead with our plan to (hopefully) letterbox there. If you would like us to pull boxes as we go, please let us know by tomorrow (Monday). I saw on LBNA that Butterfly was planning to check that park tomorrow. One way or the other, please let me know whether we should make other plans. Ack! What can I do to help????

I'm not pulling anything without explicit written permission from planters, just to be clear. :) And I haven't been told one way or the other on Rocky Neck. Go for it! I hope you get them ALL!

I believe Butterfly will try to check on as many boxes as she can tomorrow at Rocky Neck.

Thanks! I just heard that Butterfly was going to check tomorrow (Monday). Our plans were for Tuesday. I hope someone will post if all is well because (selfishly) I have that one day to find a wonderful variety of boxes and it's kinda hard to switch gears when you're from out of state.

I know! When I went to Bluff today, the X's were still marking the spots for many of the boxes!
It was a ray of hope as I was hiking, which turned to disappointment when I unearthed another X to find nothing.....
