Found in Garage...
Board: Beer, Wine, and Milkshakes

A few years ago we lived in a townhouse off the court square in Newnan, GA. It was formerly owned and occupied by my wife's dad, so naturally he had a bunch of junk stashed in the basement. When we moved, some of it was reclaimed, some of it was tossed, and some of it I kept. One of those things was a wooden box—I don't know what it's for, exactly, but it's big and heavy and quite sturdy, so I kept it.

The last time I looked in it was when I stuck it on the shelves in the garage. I noted that there were two commemorative Georgia Bulldogs National Champs Coca-Cola bottles from 1980, two six-packs and some photos. Back then, I didn't look at the photos or the six-packs. Now that I'm cleaning things up and going through these "mystery boxes", I'm finding some pretty weird stuff.

The photos, for you LBHs out there, are of a couple of naturalists enjoying a bright sunny day at a cabin in the mountains. Thankfully they're not all that bad looking... ;-)

But in keeping with the topic of this board, I finally pulled out the two six-packs of cans to see what they were. One is a six-pack if Billy Beer from 1980. What a great addition to the 99 Bottles series this will make. The other is a six-pack (with pop-tops!) of a special beer brewed to commemorate the Georgia Semiquincentenary (250 years) in 1983.

All 12 cans are unopened.

Anybody dare to drink one?

The Billy Beer cans sell on eBay for 50 cents to 99 cents. (There were a few millions cans made.)

The Georgia 250th cans sell on eBay for $9 and at collectors' sites for about half that.

The GA Bulldogs coke bottles are $10.

No word yet on how much the nudie pics will go for... ha!

Oh, and the box... might be a center console for a boat. It's got a cupholder!

I wouldn't drink the beer, but I'd dare to drink the soda. I drank 20 year old soda once (a Dr. Pepper and a Mountain Dew), about 5 years ago. A roommate had some old glass bottles and we'd been looking at these things for a year at that point.... dares were made.....

They actually weren't too bad. Very sugary/syrupy, not much carbonation left, but not the worst thing I've ever drank. The roommate was NOT happy we drank them, but not much he could do at that point. I would do it again.
