My first beer AND the one that made me go ermph all at the same time was whatever dad ordered up in North Carolina for his graduate party...aka ABD (All But Dissertation) party he and mom hosted. Had to have been the Cheap A** Crap. He never finished the writing project, btw.

Anyway: They did up an overflowing frosty beer glass banner on the front lawn which I thought was the COOLEST thing (now I say....dang that'd make a great 'boxing stamp!)

I was no older than 7. Family lore says I danced on the top part of the feet of Dad's professor...until shortly after dark...At which point it was "time for bed" <fill in the rest>

Ever since I've learned: Party Props are Cool. Dance with strangers - awesome!. Pace yourself. Stay up late. Enjoy the party. Making a spectacle of one's self leads to GOOD stories....for SOMEONE! Passing out is NOT cool!

Mornin' everybody!

"Hey, it's Drink Beer."

Janet, I'm sorry, but henceforth you shall be known (or at least occasionally referred to) as Drink Beer.

Personally, I think that would make a good trail name!

THIS IS A QUOTE I got a big 'ol glass of Fat Tire and since then, every business trip is Fat Tire for me if I can get it.... hell, everywhere I go I try to find it to drink it. I love that stuff and they don't send it to Michigan. In fact, I have a standing bet every year on the Lions v. Cowboys game with one of guys in our Texas plant. I win, I get a case of Fat Tire, if he wins I make him cookies. END QUOTE

Really? I thought Fat Tire was a Budweiser product . . . We just ran into a wheat beer on tap this week that was called (I think) Weidener's Hefelweisen (sp.) and come to find out, it was another Budweiser brew.

We also had the opportunity this week to try two different Abita beers, something Dog and Amber. The something Dog was pretty good, although it tasted like a black lager rather than a dark ale, and the Amber was good but light, kind of like a summer-weight brew.

If you really want to win a treat on the Lions vs Cowboys game, ask for a case of St. Arnold instead. Brewed in Houston, just barely available in Dallas.

And why the *#&! can't I get the 'quote' thingy to work????

NO! Fat Tire is a good beer and should never be placed in the same sentence as Bud.

No! No! No! NO!! covering ears and screaming

Just for that you have to drink a case of Bud Light!!

Weidener's Hefelweisen

Do you mean Widmer Brothers Hefeweizen? Cause that's not affiliated with Anheuser-Busch (A-B). It's a decent brew—nothing memorable, but still not A-B.

Where were you that the bartender told you everything was from A-B?

Abita beers

That would be Turbo Dog (an English Brown Ale) and Amber (a Marzen/Oktoberfest lager).

If y'all ever come to Colorado, you can tour the New Belgium brewery and get awesome samples!!! They are a wonderful company and are the apple of our town's eye.

I've heard this and I am so hoping my company has to send me to Colorado some day just so I can do this.... there's no way I'll get my man to go there for that reason, lol!!! Fat Tire is the bomb, I've thought about going down to our local beer distributor and seeing if they'll try to get it for the area (I believe I read on New Belgium's website that they can't do anything just b/c I ask them to send it here, have to talk to distributor). Luckily I have to go down there to see about ordering some kegs for the wedding anyways..... might as well give it a try.

I'm thinking about having pilsner glasses engraved for the wedding for us.... Dad's making homemade wine for the toasts and we're having champagne flutes engraved.... why not pilsners too since I love beer so much and that's all I'll be drinking that night after the toasts!?

Note that pilsner glasses are usually very tall and slender. The only one I have that fits in my kitchen cabinet is from Peroni (Nastro Azzuro)—and it barely fits. The four gold-rimmed Paulaner pilsners I brought back from Germany get to hang out in the illuminated china cabinet. Oh, yeah.

Also note that only pilsners belong in pilsner glasses, so you can get Stella Artois, Staropramen, Pilsner Urquell (though it doesn't have enough alcohol in it), Grolsch, Heineken, Becks... there are more, but thankfully the list of true pilsners isn't that long.

My husband has a collection of about 15 all different Belgian beer glasses. Each beer has a different glass. He gets a whole shelf in the cabinet for for them...We have an older house and the cabinets must be a little bigger, because the Pilsner glasses fit just fine.

Belgian beer glasses

Belgian breweries INSIST on having a special glass for each beer (not just one for the brewery itself), specifically designed to enhance the beer's aroma and taste. Example: the Leffe brewery (Abbaye de Leffe SA) brews six beers, and each one has a different glass.

Oh, yes, I know! The good thing is it makes an easy gift if you're out of ideas for Christmas or birthday. I usually buy from globalbeer.com.

Maybe I'll do this instead.... was just thinking b/c I was in the glass section the other day. All I know is I don't really want to drink out of the red Dixie cups like everyone else. First off, I'll be dancing a lot I'm sure and lose my cup and second off, I tend to drink a lot more when I drink from them.... fun at a kegger or someone else's wedding yes, but I don't plan on getting wasted at my own, lol!!!! That walk home with my man is going to be cold enough without being drunk!

I knew I shouldn't have told y'all. You see how long it took to finally own up to it. The board has been up over a week and it took that long to share. I do think it's hilarious though. To have a nickname and not even know it. It would be a great trailname, FOR A 20 YEAR OLD!

That's true they do but in all reality you only need a couple of types of glasses because they can be used for more than one type of beer. In other words a mug and a pint glass can be interchanged because there's not enough difference to effect the beer.

There are people that will disagree with of course. to those people I quote Charlie Papazian "relax, don't worry, have a home brew"

My wife would say that I only need a couple of glasses, period. She had a fit when I brought home four pint glasses I picked up at Cost Plus World Market. But I had to have 'em. They were on sale! And we were having a party the next day (all four got used, thank you very much).

Well of course I didn't mean only 2 glasses :) I doesn't hurt to have a bazillion glasses but you really only need a couple of TYPES.

Don't forget to keep them BEER CLEAN which is not the same as clean.
