How I told my husband and family

The bookworms were instrumental in telling Baker Str Searchers. They carved a great Baby Bee stamp to go with my HH certificate which read "The B Hunters are wishing you a happy father's day by bringing you a baby b #3." and planted it by the Baker Str Searchers box. They then reported on their find that they had left a little special something just for them and to get it before anyone else did.

so I called Baker Str Searchers early (about 6:00 AM) Calif time to wish my dad a happy father's day and told them the Bookworms had sent an email abouot leaving something next to the box. I also get the reports since I am listed as carver on the box. My dad said they would check on it after church and I didn't want to make a big deal out of it so I just said, call me when you find out what it was.

Well 20 minutes later I got a call from them saying 'Oh my gosh, this is so cute. The bee stamp is so cute. How in the world did you ever do this. So I told them how the Bookworms had helped out etc...and my mom said, we just loved that family. They are so nice." And then she basically said, I have to call GG (my grandmother) and hung up on me. I haven't heard from them since.

But they are thrilled to have a new grandbaby. And I am so excited that a letterboxer I haven't ever met was willing to go the extra mile and help out. I love this hobby adn the people and friendship it produces.

But I laugh when I think that my dad was probably thinking he could sleep in on father's day but my mom made him go out at 6AM and look around the cemetary for the HH. What a riot.

I did decide to tell my husband by having all his buddies stand up at the church luncheon and the MC started saying if you are 25 or younger sit down, if you are 40 or older sit down, if you don't like Basketball, sit down etc....until he and one other guy were the only ones standing. He then said, if you are not wearing a tie sit down. He was all alone, at which point, the MC said, Congratulations, you're the newest father. And he handed him a picture my 4 year old drew of the entire family and a little baby as well. I was teaching a class at the time and everyone said his face drained of color and he said, are you serious? And when the guy said yes, My husband walked out of the room, into my classroom, gave me a huge kiss and then he walked back into the luncheon with no words exchanged. I laughed at him. He is very excited. Everyone else kept asking if this was a joke since I think most people tell in quiet, personal moments, but the effect of the large group made it worth it. I only wish I had had a camera. A Happy Father's Day to everyone!

oh my parents actually have far more boxes under their belt than we do. Thay have fallen heavily into the addiction side of boxing. but we love them for it. They are headed cross country to find boxes this summer. Oh to be older and have time off like that!

We loved doing it for you B Hunters and I would think any other boxer would too. What was funny was we were all getting way to excited for something that wasn't even our news. But I guess we tend to get wrapped up in things so it's not a real surprise and I think it was a great way to tell your husband and your family. And besides we hadn't had a chance to find their box anyways so we were benefiting at the same time!
