I think this is accesible by wheelchair because all of the trail is paved and flat except maybe the last 3 or 4 feet of trail that goes onto dirt. If you take a friend they can easily retrieve the box which is only maybe 2 or 3 feet from the edge of the trail and maybe 6 feet from paved trail edge!

Intro: This letterbox is part of a series of boxes we are doing for the places we play ball...whether it is my girl's fastpitch softball tournaments or those baseball tourneys we go to with my son. In previous seasons' we played ball in many parks that we did NOT plant in but we plan to leave a letterbox in all future locations if possible. Boxes done as part of our Play Ball set will have the title of the box surrounded by + (plus signs). This will help identify those boxes without placing them in a series or changing the names.

some of Life's Best moments are on the field. Some of Life's Best friends are too!!

Turner Park (Turner Lake Complex) in Covington, GA is a wonderful park for hiking, fishing and playing some serious fastpitch softball. Some of the most fun tournaments and most competitive teams we have ever faced plays here!

This letterbox was placed the weekend that we WON the King of the Mountain tournament...which proudly was slated as the largest GA softball tournament. This year the weekend of March 24th, 2007 there were 40 teams in the 14u age group! 19 of those teams were classed as "A" teams that are best of the best in GA and surrounding areas! MoJo along with the team she plays with now, the Georgia Scorchers, won the entire shuh-bang!!! We played from 7 pm friday night until almost midnight Sunday night and took home "the PRIZE"!!!!! WooHoo!!

To get to Turner Park go south on Turner Lake Road from the I20/278 interchange. This road is beside Kmart and the parking area for the complex is actually back in behind Kmart.

Just behind the huge recreation center is a small playground and a paved trail along the lake's shore. Take the trail headed to the right away from the playground and past the large pavilion. The ball fields will be on your right, lake to left and the trail system sign ahead.

Follow the trail along the lake and notice benches along the way. If there was a ball tournament the sounds of the games will become faint.

You are looking for the first unpaved path to the left. It has a sign with green arrow and leaf marking it as a Nature Trail. Stop here. Behind you, you just passed a bench. Use it to stamp in after you find your prize.

Notice also that way off across the lake is the pavilion and the light structures for the ballfields. Are there cheers there today? Cheers rang out in waves over the water the day Life's Best made it's home here.

Be very careful here before seeking the prize and again before replacing it. The trails continue ahead and above you. Sometimes a lone jogger will sneak up on you almost from nowhere. PLEASE make sure no one sees you, the hiding spot or can tell that the area has been disturbed.

There is a pine tree at the pavement's edge where the nature trail begins. If you stand with the green arrow and leaf at your left shoulder that first pine is a bit behind you on your right. Now, immediately ahead and also on the right is another large pine. This one has a fallen log that has long been covered in pine needles just behind it. Tucked in behind the pine, between it and the log is Life's Best.
