Hunt for the Hidden Hollow

Although this box is hidden in a Forest Preserve, take precautions similar to those you would follow for venturing to a box in the city. The trails are generally safe, but there has been some recent crime in the Cook County Forest Preserves of people breaking into cars or attacking folks on the trail. We recommend you: (1) do not box alone (2) be aware of your surroundings and the people around you (3) lock all valuables out of sight in your car [perhaps put things in the trunk before you arrive at the parking lot] (4) bring a cell phone to call for help if needed (5) do not box after dark and (6) if you feel uncomfortable, WALK AWAY from the perceived danger. Our boxes are all near the main trail or large secondary trail, and (on most summer weekends) the trails are usually busy. However, please heed our warnings…don’t take an unnecessary risk to find our stamps, we will be glad to send you a copy of the image!

The Hunt for the Hidden Hollow (HHH) is the final box in a series containing double-sided stamps. One side of each HHH stamp has a carved image related to the box title, and the back-side contains a carved portion of a map. When you stamp all of the map portions together appropriately (directions for map assembly are inside each box), you will have a completed map to the Hidden Hollow, the bonus FOURTH box. Although it doesn’t matter the order that you find the boxes, “Talking about the HHH” has 4x6 cards that can be used to make your map. And although you should be careful when rehiding any box, please be extra careful when rehiding this box as it is the culmination of your hunt. If its position is made known to muggles, the entire series will have to be pulled.
