Couldn't find it and looked under trees I know were not the right one. That area floods a lot

It's saddening when a box disappears so soon after being planted that no one ever even gets the chance to find it, but then Cairo nowadays is a sad place by almost any measure. Echoing the previous comment, I found the tree and hole exactly as described in the clue, but no box therein.
