The challenge is that there are not locations listed on many of the clues. There is only the town.

Which is why I said that you have to determine the specific location of each box and then map them out, which can be done prior to getting there. Much of my boxing is done in places I have never been to, and very often it is just a town given. I read the clues, determine where I have to get to and map it out before leaving home, load the GPS with the locations and simply go from box to box when I get there.

I have found that some areas take hours & hours of research. My pet peeve is cemetery clues that don't give an address.

That is the point I was trying to make. Do the research at home, whether it is obvious locations or places that take a lot of work beforehand such as it being only a town listed. It can be time consuming but totally worth it.

Cemetery boxes are a favorite of mine. I have actually been astonished at how many obscure cemeteries will come up if typed into google maps. Not all obviously but quite a few. ‘Findagrave’ is great though I haven’t been happy with the so called upgrade that was done.

Google street view is a handy dandy little tool for these kinds of locations also. Not just cemeteries. Sometimes I’ll click down a road to see what I can expect to see when I get there. I’ll read through the whole clue to find out where I have to get to.

You’re right that this stuff can take hours sometimes but it is so worth it.

Thank you again. Yes, I get that now. Truth be told, I do not think that I have ever been to an area where almost every single box was a riddle. I guess it threw me. Well, no matter how it goes, fun adventures will be had. Haha. Thank you again, and happy weekend!

For cemeteries, Find a grave https://www.findagrave.com/ can be very helpful.

It had GPS coordinates many times

Thank you everyone for sharing!! I love the exchanges of ideas - especially the friendly ones. I learn new things all the time.

I also use findagrave alot, also billiongraves.

I love cemetery boxes and indoor boxes, spend hours planning my letterboxing routes (I average 200 miles a day on a letterboxing trip) enjoy the riddles, and especially use google maps for crossroads or addresses nearby. It's all the fun of letterboxing.

I love events the most so I can meet the boxers whose boxes I have found and exchanged AQ mail with.

I would suggest for lunch either Cathedral Cafe or Secret Sandwich Society. The box owner may as also be open to meeting if you reach out ahead of time.

in general it always help to have a county and or town map in hand. suggest stopping at visitor centers when possible.

the Fayetteville boxes are throughout the county but many in Fayetteville. I also tried to work out by clues ones in the same general area ahead of time. happy hunting.

I haven't boxed in Fayetteville, but my family and I ate dinner at the Secret Sandwich Society once and we all thought it was awesome.

Your restaurant choices would benefit anyone letterboxing in Fayetteville ... 😉😄

I do not think that I have ever been to an area where almost every single box was a riddle.

Looking at the search results for that town and glancing at the clues, none of the boxes are riddles or mysteries. You just have to read through each clue to find out the point you have to get to. The clues are very clear.

Did you like the old ‘findagrave’ better or do you prefer the updated site? Just curious. Although I guess the update is not so new anymore. Been that way for quite a while now.

I'm probably using the updated one. I like that it gives a map at the bottom of the page so I can sometimes get a crossroads or a close idea of where to look on google.

If I wasn't busy letterboxing, I would be finding the picture requests and taking pics to post for people doing ancestry searches.

I don’t think they have a link to the old site anymore. They finally did away with it.

I found some ancestors on there. It was really interesting. I made a memorial to my mother and father.

I meant clues. Sorry. I do not think that I have ever seen an entire area have clues. I meant clues, as opposed to directions. I do know the difference and misspoke mistyped. Thank you for keeping me on my toes. 😉

We went with Cathedral Cafe and had already met the owner at the hobbit hole. Really nice folks. The cafe had really good food for reasonable prices, too. We stamped after you in a lot of logbooks!

We went to the Fayetteville area for the long weekend. I had such a great time. We laughed, we ate, we boxed, we saw sights, and we met some really nice people. There are a bunch of boxes in the area, and wvelliotts was kind and kept in touch with us over the weekend. If you are looking for somewhere to go box for a few days, you might consider this cute town.
