I've used Gorilla glue and it seemed to work at first, but then I got reports of the foam coming off the stamps. I switched to E6000 and love it. I think that's my go-to glue now.

I assume this is all accomplished with the consent of the stamp

I agree with Kirbert, if your wood warps it’s the wrong kind of wood. I have a sheet of some thin pressboard that works great. Doublesided tape insures even pressings.

I use contact cement (the stuff used for laying tile flooring), it stinks, but is really permanent, and I've never had problems with it coming apart, and I always have some around the house.
