"Sent" Mail & "Inbox" Mail

Just wanted to double check to see if I understand this correctly - if I send someone a message, but they haven't read it yet, their trailname will remain in bold font?

Also, my "Sent" messages delete after two weeks, so after two weeks, there is no way to tell if they have ever read my message?

======
for "Inbox" Mail, only the last 30 days of mail are shown? Meaning that if someone hasn't logged in for 2 months, they won't see mail sent to them from day 31-60?

Asking because I am trying to get a stamp back from someone who doesn't log in often. :(

Read messages are deleted after 30 days. Any UNREAD mail will still be in their inbox for a full year, but you are correct that you have no way of knowing if they've read it or not after the first two weeks.

Thanks! That's really helpful to know.

Unless they have their AQ mail forwarded to their regular email account. Then it will never be bold. But if you do see a name in bold, then yes, that means it has not been read.

Kind of 'round-about' way, but if you really need to save a sent message longer than two weeks, open the message, forward it to yourself, and from your inbox, you can archive the message. Of course, the read/unread is irrelevant at that point.

More-or-less, but it's not infallible. It's easy to mark a message as read or unread at whim, and if they forward messages to their regular email address, the icons means absolutely nothing. Even if they have messages forwarded to an email address, the trailname might be bold or not--there are two different forwarding options and one leaves the message as read on AQ and the other leaves it as unread.

So in a nutshell, as a rule of thumb, it might work. But really, there are absolutely no absolutes when it comes to knowing if someone has read your message or not.
