I never personally met Safari Man but I really enjoyed finding several of his series in Gatlinburg, TN. He sent me a nice note which I thought was really sweet. Now I want to run out and find as many of his plants as possible.

I feel the same way. I've never found any, and never got to meet him except on the boards. I feel like I've lost something I didn't even have yet.

What a hole he will leave in our hobby!

Heaven must have some wonderful places to letterbox. May this new journey be a safe one. Say hi to my Dad. He sounds a lot like you....a true gentleman. I am sure he will be the one to meet you at the Pearly Gates.

To the family left behind. He is now free of any hurts and pains. Always remember the good times and rejoice in them.

Glenn
I remember the very first time I met him. It was like meeting a famous person. I was sooo excited. I could not wait. It was like waiting for a rock show to start. I could not wait for him to get there. When Glenn got there it had so many question about carving. He sat down and talked to me am out all I had to ask. encouraged me to keep trying and not to give up.
The next event came and he was going to be there and I was just as excited to see him again. I had to tell him about the things I have carved and more questions. I thought he would not remember me for sure. But guess what he did. :)
Glenn you are already missed!!!

I've enjoyed his boxes both in Oklahoma and Missouri. I'm so sad to hear this news. His beautiful artwork has always brought a smile to my face and he will be missed. Big hugs to his wife as well as Okie Dog.

{{{sigh!}}} SO sad! We never had the pleasure of meeting, but we were fortunate to have found some of his Blue Diamond creations in Pittsburgh. May he rest in peace!

We too missed meeting Safari Man but after reading his Profile Page, we see we missed a man of rare humor and gentleness. I'd bet there aren't many who could say they've planted 75% of the number of boxes they've found. He'll certainly be adding to Preboxed's letterboxes in heaven.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Safari Man, but in late August, his Roundhouse Museum letterbox was my 233rd find, and when I logged it, he sent me a lovely note saying how glad he was that I had found his box. At that point in my experience, most planters didn't acknowledge finds like that, so I was very touched by his response and sent a reply. In my all-too-brief virtual encounter with him, he left a lasting impression as a very kind and thoughtful gentleman indeed. I am holding his family close in my thoughts.
With deepest empathy,
Rebecca

Had the pleasure of having lunch with Glenn in Parkersburg, WV a few years ago. It was a great experience with plenty to discuss. I could imagine him being able to have an hour conversation with anyone he would meet.

Will be going out today to get that last box of his in my area. They are always worth the walk.

Wishing the best possible for Okie Dog and the family during this difficult time.

He will definitely be missed. I met him once at the Little Foxes' farm at Christmas time one year and he had me laughing in about 30 seconds because that's just the kind of guy he was.

Thanks for the pink theme in his memory. I may set this one and keep it for a while.

I wish peace and strength to Georgette and his family.

Safari Man was on my list of people to meet someday. Other letterboxers had nothing but good things to say about him over the years, like Granny Butterfly and Coffee Mug, as well as many NC 'boxers. I noticed there were some amusing tales that followed him on the boards.
This year, I found three of his boxes and talked to him after sending my comments. He always wrote back, and was very nice. His Michigan's Favorite Sons series (that Granny Butterfly planted) were my (known) first finds of his stamps. Two and a half years ago, I made a suggestion of adding a few more names to it after the second update four years ago, which he was considering if he could find the right images.
He was a great 'boxer and will definitely be missed. I was unaware that Okie Dog was his sister. Sorry for your loss and your family's loss.

Safari Man, your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

I had the opportunity to meet him at an event in Ohio, a great man, letterboxer and carver. He will be missed by many.

I don't think I ever knew or talked with safari man, but I am deeply saddened by the loss of a letterboxer. The world needs more kind hearted people and it sounds like he was one of them. A loss, truly.

While reading these messages and that he had boxes in Missouri, I realized it was his series that I recently got in St. Louis. They really were amazing carves.

I was shocked and have paid my respect on the condolences pag eearlier. Safari Man and I shared a love for PINUPS (not nude!) letterboxing carves. After sharing many of mine with him in St Louis, he was kind enough to send me one of his pin up carves to hide in the Syracuse, NY area. For those of you local to me but not to Glenn, here's a chance to snag one of his carves. Its a mystery box and I am glad for it as I would be heartbroken if this went missing. Search for Witchy Woman, planted by me but carved by Safari Man.

RIP, brother man.
