Dizzy - Missouri has a hiking app? How do I get a hold of that?

I think I saw it on their website. I'm sure you could do a search in Google Play for MO State Parks. Here is a link to the information on the website.

I have EveryTrail installed on my iPad but I haven't really used it since I don't carry an iPad with me when I hike.

please help me figure out what apps i absolutely NEED for basic letterboxing

Since I usually box alone and have a poor sense of direction, I have installed My Tracks. I turn it on at the beginning of my hike and it tracks my path so if I do get disoriented, I can just follow my own trail back to the car.

Should i think about the compass app?

I am looking forward to this answer. I have downloaded several compass apps and find them appallingly bad. Hopefully, some one can provide one that works well.

Also, if you decide to head to Pennsylvania, there is a PA State Parks and Forest app.

Enjoy your new toy, I love my Samsung 3 and rarely use it for a phone because there are so many other ways to use it!

Thanks, Janila - I am directionally challenged, and this is exactly what I need! I have just installed the app on my phone and used it to track my path, but haven't yet figured out the "follow my own trail back" piece of it. Can you (or anyone) explain?

You just follow the tracks on your app back to the beginning. When the tracks turn left, you turn left, etc. It is also great for tracking how far you walked.
