You are not a horrible person. You can always send a card wishing her well in her new marriage. Gifts should never be expected or required.

Etiquette dictates that if you are invited to a wedding and do not attend, you should still send a gift. You mentioned that you feel like it is just a gift grab. Based solely on what you have said, I wonder if this woman has invited as many people as she can in the hopes of getting those gifts.

According to Miss Manners, this only applies to a first wedding.

Had a similar thing happen 2 different people, 2 different times. Dont feel bad- decline & be happy surrounding yourself with REAL friends that actually care about you & your life not just a wedding gift!

If you're based out of Delray for a few days, there are a lot of boxes you can travel for. I might even be persuaded to put my boxes back out in my park. ;)

South Florida is not a boxing mecca, but there are still quite a few out there that are worthwhile, if you're willing to drive. Gas is cheaper here than other places, so fuel the hoopty up, plot a course, and get them boxes!

Now this sounds hopeful that some more boxes may be appearing in south FL! (Sounds like you had pulled them at some point in the past?)

I love to look up certain boxers and try to locate their plants, especially if I am in the area. I am amazed the places some boxers have been and planted for others to find. I have found many historical and interesting areas to letterbox. I so enjoyed locating some boxes of a gentleman who passed away. I have learned a lot of history through letterboxing that I otherwise would have not know about just by reading the clues, etc. There are states and countries that I may never visit but I can through these letterboxes and the written clues.

OMG It gets better...though now this is just petty me coming out....ha....

I just looked at their website....they are doing the full blown thing with bridesmaids and everything. 5 of them!
And this is what it says on the registry link:

A gift towards our honeymoon,

For our honeymoon we are taking a two week road trip across the country on Route 66. Cash, Visa gift cards, or gas cards would help us "Get our kicks on Route 66" :)
And of course there is always the option of Target or Amazon!

Dearest readers of this thread.
I feel I've missed out on so much by not remarrying, so in lieu of a wedding:

Two of us, not an SO, but rather a friend of similar ilk to all of us reading and following this thread, will be taking a boxing road trip tomorrow morning.

If you are thinking of giving a gift,
To help us on our way,
A gift towards our road trip
would really make our day.

For our road trip we will be taking a 15 hour boxing vacation down 89 to 93 to 3 to 495 and into Tewksbury.
VISA gift card, gas cards or gift certificates to OSJL, Dunkin Donuts or BK would help us.

I'll be on a two week business trip soon to the Research Triangle Park area. I plan a mini-road trip to the NC coast from the weekend in the middle but I should have most other evenings open for adventures in letterboxing as well. Any locals want to meet and greet? Get out and stretch your legs?

A quick glance down IMDB and I found one more familiar name. Robert Picardo was in one episode at some point. There are actually quite a few names I recognized but his was the only one that jumped out as ST related. :-)

I think it would be cool to try and have a little get together when you come into town. My girls have started soccer again, so it would depend on what day you would be free. Weekends are typically better, but again until a more concrete date is set that would determine if I can make it or not. Hopefully some of my NC peeps will weigh-in. Any particular food you like or dislike?

Interesting. Because of that I looked up the episode hoping that he (by chance) played a doctor. It turns out that he played a director.

However, among his other credits is CSI: NY where he played Sheriff Benson. That is an interesting coincidence, playing "Benson" when he was on Benson.

Plans are very fluid at the moment. I do not even have dates for the trip yet. In general I expect I'll be free almost any weekday evening I am in NC. The Sat & Sun that I'll be there will probably taken up with a LB road trip to the coast.

Any particular food you like

BarBQ works, burgers and fries, seafood, Italian, etc.

We'd be happy to put together a mini meet! Many of us in the general area! Let us know when works best when you find out your dates. BBQ in NC is a perfect choice... I'm not sure the best restaurant for BBQ and stamp exchanges but I'm sure someone here well have a suggestion. :). I'm out of town some in Feb but even if my dates don't match up I know my fellow nc'rs will love to help coordinate too!
