I use Gorilla glue....glue guns are a hassle for me, and I haven't had much luck with the glue either...E6000 is also good!

E6000 is great glue. Started using when it was recommended to me by someone who used to make and sell tiny thingies. She used it.

Never used a glue gun.

I had thought about creating a group of message boards on AQ that are read-only where people could read and search through the messages, but only if Choi didn't have any interest in implementing some sort of interface for accessing the messages.

I recently emailed Choi about his plans and he said he didn't have any downloaded files and was planning on you hosting everything on AQ, so I guess he has no plans on hosting them on LBNA. It would be great if you could do this, but I guess you should check with Choi to make sure.

I'm not sure what sort of photos or database or other options it might have downloaded, though.

When I requested a download of groups, Yahoo sent me zip files of all groups I was a member of, but it looks like the photos, and maybe the files, are incomplete and consist of only the ones I uploaded over the years. Perhaps you (or Mu) should use the command line tool Mu recommended to make sure everything gets downloaded before 12/14. Thanks to both of you for trying to save some of our history!

It depends on which school you belong to. You can either go with the AR 15 glue gun with a Stick Stock, or you can decide that all glue guns should be banned because of the great number of burns they cause.

Thank you for explaining all that. Appreciate all the hard work you put into the site.
I find most of my LB’s thanks to the recent finders comments, otherwise my 2nd log book might not be filling up.
Thanks again!

Oh. For all purpose glue stick good ole Elmer's works if I just want to glue a stamp image in a logbook. I used to use a sketch pad for boxing and then cut the image out and glue it in a nice logbook. That started being too much trouble years ago but Elmers worked great.

What would you "stick to a box"? I'm guessing an indoor box?

I was kind of relying on Eidolon for that, but I like Mu doing it as well as a backup. It's nice to know there are a couple of copies of everything somewhere.

I can definitely get it up on AQ at some point, but it's not one of those "drop everything and make it happen NOW" kind of features. I'll probably work on it when things are slow and I have nothing better to do.

But it'll be available eventually. One way or another. =)

I'll happily share my files and can help convert them into a presentable state, here on AQ or elsewhere. I currently have about a dozen groups on my list and each takes a few hours. I also hit some throttling on the Yahoo side if I don't take a break between archiving groups and I want to make sure my account doesn't get blacklisted (as has been the case for many of the volunteers more broadly archiving groups) so it's taking a while!

On the bright side, digging through some of these old groups while archiving them is super nostalgic!

Camouflage would be good to stick to a box so that it would be less likely to be found by a muggle.

I spray paint boxes. Mostly flat black, but sometimes I get fancier and do OD green, black and brown.

Flat black, flat brown, flat olive. yup.

I'm trying to remember if I have ever actually used camo tape. I know I *have* camo tape. I think I have used it on a film cannister or a centrifuge type container. Never on lock and lock, just spray paint. If anything at all. Haven't had anything muggled since I was a newbie.

Oh. I have a pouch planted that has camo tape on it. Folded over in a spot that stays pretty protected. Still dry if people put it back the way it’s supposed to be. It’s close enough that I can check on it from time to time.

I have used magnets to stick a box to thing. I put them inside of the box though, and taped them there. I placed the box on top of something, so the magnets were used to keep it from falling off.

rubber snakes
plastic bugs
the stamp to the inside so a geocacher doesn't steal it

A lot of great material in those old boards. I used it to build my History of Texas Letterboxing presentation for TALE 10. Losing the pictures and helpful files created over the years will stink. As Silver Eagle said, the talk list finally became a way for us to communicate in the early days, and plan events. If you get some free time over the holidays, go back and read the old posts. Really fun history!

I understand the feeling, but how do you manage to do this and be able to stamp it? Most lids are concave so you would also need a block behind it. You would also need to leave the lid clear so that a letterbox can line up the stamp.

I glued the stamp to the flat part of the lid. The lid was wide enough that you could still stamp in.

It was a geocache-letterbox listed on both sites. I know the stamps for those frequently get stolen. This was out for several years and I only pulled it because the trails were being rerouted.

Ditto to everything you said. You really don't have to know anything about football (I don't ) and with the toss of a ball and a catch or not your points are gained or lost. For me the fun is seeing the stamps that are created. Come join the fun and you could walk away with some awesome stamps.

Stupid Yahoo. *shaking head* They create this problem, then blacklist people for trying to fix it?!

I gotta admit, I've never liked the Yahoo Groups. Yeah, I know, they're historic and all--that's not what I mean--but I've never actually been a fan of them. They served their purpose, I suppose, but there's a reason Yahoo is getting rid of them. I'm not sure Yahoo has ever created a service that I actually liked. Which is probably why they're basically irrelevant now.

The blacklist may actually have been from scripts to autojoin groups (because apparently you need to be a member even of public groups in order to access their content?) which violated some policy. You'd think they wouldn't care about such policies anymore a mere week before the service shuts down....

I was making decent progress and then started hitting lots of timeout errors last night... *crosses fingers / except for a middle one which is pointed right at Yahoo*
