hi,
I carved out a discarded book to hide a stamp and log book in. i tried to glue pagers together but they do not want to stick together. How did other people get pages to stick together? What glue is best to use? I tried glue stick.
thanks for any info you can share.

I used modge podge glue and only glued the edges of the book that shows and then the middle cutouts/hidy hole pages. Worked great! Good luck

I use diluted Elmer's glue and a paint brush to apply it to the outer edges of the pages, and then again to the inner edges of the pages within the carved out hole. You don't need to stick the pages's surfaces to each other. Having the edges fused with liquid glue will keep the pages in place.

Ratio of glue to water is about 60% glue and 40% water, and you can always add a little glue or water if the mix seems too thick (gluey) to be absorbed, or too watery to control. Two teaspoons of glue will do a whole book, inside the hole and outside, along the exposed page edges.

Inset a piece of wax paper or foil between the glued pages and the cover while the book dries. You need to let it dry in the closed position, and a weight on top, like another book, is a good idea.

After the first glue/dry, check for unattached places and do another round of watery glue painted onto any loose edges, and dry it again.

For anyone who's interested and hasn't started yet, the best books for this purpose are the cheaper ones, the ones with softer, pulpier pages so the glue absorbs better. Slicker, smoother pages don't accept the glue as nicely, I've found.

we had data issues with Verizon the entire time...

Summer 2018 we spent a couple of days in Bowling Green, KY. Lovely town, home of the Corvette Museum. But our Verizon phone went belly-up as soon as we entered town. No calls, no data, no nuthin'. The locals told us it's not a Verizon town. Sure enough, as soon as we left town everything started working again.

You don't even have to bother with all that. The pages will stack just fine on their own.

Today was a beautiful day, and I had a lovely visit with Bungalow Boxer. She has some neat boxes around her house, and the next BOTM is a pretty and cute carve! If you have not been to her place lately, maybe December will be a festive month to stop by. Thank you for added smiles to the afternoon, BB!

Hello fellow boxers,

I am on the hunt for a set of clues, apparently only 3 sets are floating around and I have come up empty handed in my search.

The box is Spadra (#233799) in Pomona, CA. If anyone has them, or knows who has a set of them, please share the love. Contact through AQ mail to keep the secret.

Thank you all

Was looking at the boxes in southern Ohio, there’s a few there but I also noticed that they have not been found at all, one of them being mine, or not in quite a while. Are there not any Lboxers in that area? We were in a beautiful park at the KY stateline.

The SW corner of Ohio tends to a bit more active than the SE right now. I know I haven't been out that way in several years, primarily because my boxing time is so limited that I tend to stick close to home or go where there is a larger density of boxes for me.

Thank you for planting there! We have lots of wonderful boxers in Ohio and I feel like we are all starting to box more again. You must have hit a down time; hopefully the drought is ending :)

Hoping with the emptying of my nest next fall, I might be able to get out and about a bit more!!

I have a mix of ink pads in my kit, since different stamps and paper will react differently to the inks used. The Versafine black is the only black I'll use - great for detailed stamps, and always a clean imprint. I wasn't aware they came in smaller cubes and in colors other than black and red - thank you for the heads up, everyone!

Joann's had a sale on ink pads recently (buy two, get three free) on those little dewdrop multi-packs, so I stocked up on multiple shades. They work nicely, and have a great edge to provide for multi-color stamping.

This was my first and, I guess last, Toys 4 Tots Maine event and I'm so glad I decided to go. Thanks to all organizers, attendees, and carvers. We stayed the w/e and it was chilly but you held off the rain or snow so thanks for that. I'm glad so many more children will be smiling Christmas morning due to your efforts.

Should call my boxes that I've taken in for the fall/winter season "inactive" or simply put a note in the clue to the effect that I've taken them in for the season.

I suggest changing the status of the boxes to "unavailable" and add a note to the clue that says the boxes will be unavailable until (spring) (date) (further notice) or whatever.

I'd never seen this until today. It seems to me to capture the essence of letterboxing.

“And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it.”

Roald Dahl

Maybe that's what the rocks are all about.
