Logbook Updates
Board: Atlas Quest Announcements

Thread Board
So I've taken another whack at updating the logbooks.

  • The status of each box is now back.
  • By default, it'll only show results from the past year. You can delete the start date, however, to show all boxes, trackers, etc. if you need it.
  • If you change a search element, you have to click "update" to refresh the page. It won't auto-update anymore. The "update" button will wiggle and change colors when some of the search/filter elements have changed, however, to help remind you to click it.
  • Premium members will also have the option to filter their logbooks by name and end date.
  • Premium members will also be able to see their tags, green checkmarks and the usual small icons on the boxes.

The other big complaint that I've chosen not to do anything about is having all matches showing up on a single page of results. All results will continue to be displayed on a single page.

I love it all!! Sometimes losing something makes us appreciate it even more. Even small things like green check marks.

All of this helps me as I try to maintain my plants and dream about adventures to come. Bless you.

The date range is genius. Fabulous help.

The "update" button will wiggle and change colors when some of the search/filter elements have changed, however, to help remind you to click it.

It's also reminding us to do a happy dance about these new changes. Thanks, GT!

Not a big deal, I just found it curious that when my miles went over, W4F put me on the John Muir Trail.
Was it next in line of some other trail choosing algorithm?

This has happened to me a couple of times too. I just change the trail to the one I desired. But the steps for that day are logged on to the trail that had miles logged on to it previously that day.

At least all our steps keep getting counted.

I had a great weekend! Weather worked out I would say!

Thanks so much for all the hard work of the organizers and those who volunteered their help! What a community.

It was a great theme, and hope I can come again next year. Thank you for keeping the flame lit in NY!

Just make sure you roll the dates back otherwise it might indicate there are no plants in a particular logbook.

If steps get added to a trail I didn't want I go back and change the steps total to 0. I then select the trail I want and re-enter those steps on that day. That usually works for me. Also if I complete a trail and have a lot more steps than trail has I subtract the extras from that day and add it to the following day on the new trail. It might look like I walked a long way but at least the steps are going where I want them.

Thanks, GT! I especially love having the box status back - so much easier than having to click on each box! (Although I do have a search set up for my active plants, and have had for quite a while.) One question, and I'm just asking because I can't remember what the reason was for this, but any chance the unlisted finds will return to being merged with AQ finds?
Thanks muchly!

More or less. This only happens if you add steps when you've already completed a trail. W4F looks at it and thinks, "Well, she's already finished a trail but she's still adding steps. Where should they go? She hasn't told me! Arrgh! Hmm... I'll just put them on this other trail until I hear otherwise."

Anyone ever hid boxes in hollowed out books in a library?
I've emailed the library to see if they're interested. I don't want to be sneaky about it.

Any tips?

Not in the foreseeable future. That's a very slow process for large datasets and the whole purpose for my logbook updates was to keep AQ running fast.

Check with Casa del Sol. She did a series in all the VA Beach library branches and worked with the library to get them placed and even catalogued.

Hi

We have not hid one in a library, but we did find one in a library. See AQ# 114745. Please let us know how your experience goes as we would like to hide one in a library too.

Good luck

This has been a rough year so far - I've been offline for the last several months spending time with family and friends (seven, if you can believe it) who were in hospice care, neglecting everything I could to spend as much time as possible with loved ones. I apologize for being largely absent and unresponsive during this time. However, I think (little webbed toes crossed) things will start to return to a semblance of normalcy now.

If I've missed questions or requests along the way, please cut me a little slack and ask again as I try to catch up with everything I've let slide.

Thanks to all of you for being so great and understanding - I love you guys!
