Harpers Ferry ?s

HI friends!
We are planning a tip out to Harpers Ferry (among other places) and are wanting to know of great places to stay: hotels, cabins, airbnb, etc. We are on a budget. But, we are hoping to maybe have a kitchen??

Also any can't miss boxes because I am thinking all our time will be taken up by the Park. I think we are going to try to make time to visit the shops downtown.

Thanks!!

We have not found many Stone Mountain boxes and would be happy to slowly find any old ones people leave out. We are not super fast high volume boxers so can’t guarantee we would do that soon, but often like to go out and find a few boxes. Since there are not many new ones being added to the Atlanta area, we would be grateful for any old ones people chose to leave around.

I was going to write something like that, but then I thought that the subject of this message would be rather long. Haha.

It's not like I'm planning a major trip out there to do that. Just as I get by them. The Indian ridge series is officially on the clock! LOL

It does have a cabin, Paymasters, and there is a hostel there too. There might be cabins nearby to rent too.

Have fun whatever you end up! Gettysburg is awesome too.

In case you didn't happen to see it, I have a new (and, to my knowledge, unique) box planted. Give it a try!

More on the logbook tweak...

I also appreciate this website and all it does to make letterboxing enjoyable and the way it helps me manage my plants and finds. It brings me joy.

I've been following this thread and hoped to have my questions answered about the logbook layout. But up to this point, I haven't seen anything that directly speaks to what's going on in my logbook. Like Rocklun mentioned, my finds do not seem to be listing in the order selected. If I choose TRADITIONAL-2019-NEWEST, my 5 latest finds don't show up at the top or anywhere in the list. I do have over 500 finds in 2019, so I'm guessing that's part of the problem.

I've gone back and looked at 2018 Finds (TRADITIONAL-2018-NEWEST). I'm seeing the same thing. 500 boxes are listed, but then random boxes will not be there. For example, on December 1, I found several more boxes than what show up in the listing.

And, lastly...the spreadsheet. Thank you. It is good to have a spot where all the boxes can be. For me, it would be helpful to have a little spreadsheet lesson (since I've used them minimally). The list downloads by box number, smallest to largest. How would I order the downloaded spreadsheet in date found order?

This is such a good website and I've spent many enjoyable hours solving mystery locations, planning trips, decoding ciphers, and digging deeper into the website to learn more about it. So it's a ton of fun and I appreciate it.

Is it set up as an automatic response? Do we need to have a battery pack on us?

There is a box down south that uses phone and e-mail. You have to send in the correct answer to get the next clue. My phone nearly ran out of power trying to find the boxes in the series.

I just read some instructions for first time letterboxers. Not once did it mention CLEANING the stamp before rehiding. That's what I was taught - cleaning the stamp for the next finder. Is that not done anymore?

I'd only clean a stamp if I were using a different color for some reason. Is that what you're asking?

I think it's common courtesy to clean a stamp if you have a really juicy ink pad or use the wrong color.

However, people leaving ink on a stamp has saved me when I forgot my ink a few times.

I wish it would have an "all" instead of traditional/hh/cootie/LTC/event/ect
When I am searching other people's logs (just attended event and I can't find AQ# for a find) they aren't listed even though their logbooks are public.... you have to choose type of stamp (and ironically for this event many of the stamps are showing up traditional instead of event so I am having trouble finding them!)

Did you check the stump ball a little bit further up the hill?
I remember doing that with someone maybe eidolon or even Pawpaw...the last time I went to the box with him.
Or maybe I'm remembering a tribute box planted off that box?

To change the order of the data, select “data” and then “sort.” Typically you can sort by any of the categories listed in the "header row."
