Has anyone read this?

I am dying to talk about it and determine if anyone thought about it as much after they finished as I did. . . .

On a somewhat-related note, I just found a bug where, when you're reading a board and click the "Start New Thread" button, it's supposed to open the posting page to automatically select the group/board of the board you were currently reading. (If you're reading messages from "all boards" or something, it'll default to the Everybody group and ask you to select a board.)

This was my exact dilemma.

Thanks for the fix!!

We (Minnesota LBers) are looking forward to hosting the Minnesota Myths and Mysteries (GLG 2019)

In an effort to spread the love and have stamps carved by a lot of different people, we have set up Trackers for you to sign up to donate a stamp. Here you can see what we are looking for:

Fearsome Creatures from Logging Legends
Main Street images of the late 1800s
Native American and Misc Images
Religious Themed Chapel Area stamps -
Portraits galore in the Minnesota Legends Tracker

For some of the stamps, we have photographs of historic buildings and/or people.

They actually aren't all that hard, though the first time is pretty daunting.
1) Pick a theme.
2) Decide on a due date (in hand or send by).
3) Decide on how many people you want in your swap. Best to start kind of small to begin with.
4) Set up the tracker.
5) Have a location to keep the sent envelopes together as you receive them.
6) Remember to make your own cards in a timely fashion.
7) Once you have all the cards, or have reached the due date and have established you have all the cards you are going to get, then it's time to sort. What works best for me is to have a clear table and make one pile for each participant. I take each set of sent ltcs and deal them into each pile, kind of like dealing a hand of poker. I then return any extra ltcs to the envelope of the sender. That way I don't misplace any or return them to the wrong person. When I have sorted all the sent ltcs, I make sure that I have one of each card in each pile.
8) Log the cards you receive. You can do them all at once, or one at a time as you receive them.
9) Remove the mailing label with your address, so that you can return the sorted sets, tape the envelopes, and attach return postage, then mail them back.
10) Have fun.
11) Communicate with your participants. If something comes up that might cause a delay, let people know.

After you've done a few, you'll figure out what works best for you. This order may not be exactly how you do it, but these are the basic steps.

Haven't read Maisie Dobbs I will have to look that one up. I did just recently reread To Kill a Mockingbird. such a good book.

I reread 1984 last year and it is so fitting to today. even more so than when I read it in the late 80s. Now Big Brother is everywhere.

I loved the story of Ove. I didn't want that one to end.

I needed to look up one of my boxes to add a planter. When I click on the link for “my active”, it takes me to a page called “ltc search”

Today is H of RDHG's birthday, and we took this special day as the day to start planting again. If you are local and would like to search for his box and give him some birthday cheer, please do!

Where is this link? I don't remember creating a link for showing just one's active boxes anywhere.

hahaha...#9. I forgot to remove my address from one envelope in a swap. Two days later, there was an envelope in my mailbox and the cards looked awfully familiar! Oops.

That's a custom menu option you added, but I went ahead and logged into your account to check it out and it looks like the search is just set to search for LTCs rather than traditional boxes. I changed the URL so the search type is "1" instead of "18" and it seems to work fine now.

Great advise from DP!

I’ll add that it won’t always go as smoothly as you might wish. I don’t say that to dissuade you (I think you should take the plunge!) rather, I say it to remind you that they seem to take on a life of their own and you should just accept that. Remember, have fun.

The pervasive surveillance is not as in "1984", yet. However, it is approaching. For instance, the government doesn't mandate 24 hour surveillance, we have to buy our own spy-bot and it is (so far) voluntary.

At least we're not like China, which is much closer to "1984" than are we.

The second swap I ever hosted had about 24 participants. After sorting and repackaging I was a little brain dead. I left my mailing label on at least three of the envelopes. I got mail for several days. lol
