I though of inviting others to join me, and was about to post asking for advice for how I could do that (tracker, etc)? - sort of like a letterbox-hiding-support-group.

Re: Restroom Etiquette

Mr. <Redacted>:
It has come to our attention, via numerous complaints, that we seem to be having an issue regarding common restroom etiquette. Several employees whose cubicles are near the Men's Restroom have emailed us regarding "loud yelling in a foreign tongue" coming from said restroom recently. These complaints, according to eyewitnesses, seem to revolve around your visits. To be blunt... please stop yelling in the restroom once you have done your "business". It is distracting and, frankly, perplexing. What exactly does "Ja-Loja" mean, anyway?
Sincerely, HR

Here's an idea for several trackers to be posted in 2019. Participants agree to watch an instructional You Tube video together and we will all experiment and try something new. The main objective is to learn and have FUN!

Reading Challenge Anyone??

Is anyone else doing a reading challenge this year? I've decided to try one that is 52 books in 52 weeks--simple enough for me-- but has 52 different categories, which is what will be the challenge! I feel I am stuck in a cozy mystery rut and want to expand out a bit, so hopefully this will give me some impetus and direction.

I found several good lists but settled on [www.mommymannegren.com]

Would love to share the experience!

Isn't that where boxing started??

My understanding (certainly up for correction) is that they aren't into rubber stamps in letterboxes as much as we are. Isn't it here in the US that adding rubber stamps to letterboxes started? I know they originally had postcards in letterboxes, but have rubber stamps made their way back across the pond? They probably have.
2019 New Postal Rates
Board: LTC: Trades and Trackers

Thread Board
You may be aware that rates are changing yet again on 1/27/2019. Forever stamps will increase to $.55 (from $.50) and extra ounce stamps will decrease to $.15 (from $.21). This is actually a cost break if you are mailing LTCs in large flats, which will cost as follows:
weight(oz) - price
1 - 1.00
2 - 1.15
3 - 1.30
4 - 1.45
5 - 1.60
and so on . . . averages are less than we are paying now - how’s THAT for a post-Christmas gift??
Consider buying extra forever stamps before the price goes up.

**The “first-class package” rate which we’ve used to calculate postage for the smaller padded envelopes (typically they exceed the 3/4” thickness limit) will change to a zone- based chart, so that will vary by person depending on the distance between the host and each participant.

Also still time to join the Bingo Side Wagers game, submissions accepted through 1/10.

Side Wagers 2019
(thanks to Azobox, Wisconsin Hiker, TJ Mich, Atom 118, and all other previous Side Wager coordinators!)

Side Wager: A wager made beyond the normal rules of the game. A hedge bet.

If you'd again like to add more excitement to the letterboxing bingo game (or another way to win), enter the Side Wagers Game. When will AtomicBeans pull the term that finally and completely fills in some player's card? Pick the right day, and you WIN! Again, this is the Big Game here, not the interim games. The date will be determined by the claiming of a successful full card by a BINGO player (and its certification by AtomicBeans).

To enter the side wagers game, decide what day you think the first full card winner will be crowned. Send me your guesses.

Your guess must be submitted before January 10, 2019.
Email: baliddletoo@yahoo.com

PLEASE DO NOT POST TO THE Atlas Quest BOARD

In the subject line, put "Bingo Sidewagers Game"
In the body, please indicate:
1. the date you have selected as a first choice,
2. one additional backup date
3. your trail name.
4. your email address

If multiple people in your household use the same trail name, you can submit one entry for each person. Please differentiate the entries to clarify each entry. For example: Team Rabbit: Brown Rabbit; Team Rabbit: Rainy Day Rabbit; or Hartx6: Becki and Hartx6: Matt, etc.

If two or more players choose the same date as a 1st choice, the first entry is given the date and the 2nd choice backup date will be assigned to anyone else who chooses the initial date. If both of a player’s choices have already been selected by other entrants, they will be assigned a date close to their 1st choice. This will be done by moving earlier *or* later until the next available date is found.

After you submit your entry, I will email you with confirmation of your officially selected date. Each person will be assigned one date only.

Once the bingo game gets underway, you will see me posting some mysterious messages. These messages are clues to who is currently in the running for side wagers fame. If you figure out the messages, please do not post answers to the message board in order to keep the mystery alive for others.

Me, too. I’ve been a holdout, still using a padded mailer, but now that I would have to take it to the post office to calculate the zone and rate, make sure I’ve put that much inside for the return trip, and have them putting stickers all over the outside that are not on the removable taped part . . . it’s just not worth the trouble to me.

I'll probably still use the padded mailers. I will just have to put postage for the highest zone both in and out.

There is a postal zone chart that you can download and, based on your zip code, will tell you what zone all the other zip codes are in, if you want to go that route.

I’m doing the Ultimate Popsugar Challenge as well as a Goodreads challenge. Last year I managed 55 or 56 books across many genres. This year, I’m shooting for 65 books. But, full disclosure, I work in an indie bookstore, so the pressure is great.

Ps If anyone has a favorite book to recommend, I’d love to hear about it.

If you like mysteries, ANY book by Ruth Rendell is aways great.

Mary Roach writes these amazing, fascinating non-fiction books about different subjects that you think you'd never want to read about but then you can't put it down.
