I was at an event yesterday and was asked about my VLog. I took the summer off while planning The Historic Searsport event. That reminded me that I had videoed my adventure on Memorial Day, so I finally uploaded it to my VLog! You can find it here: Letterboxing On Memorial Day 2018

Thanks grrly girl for the reminder!!

there were a few unexpected problems, and I suspect you'll find more in the coming days.

I may have discovered a bug. I was trying to add a custom menu item, and it didn't appear. I tried several times, but whenever I click "Add Item," it all goes away, nothing sticks.

While socks aren't necessarily something you'd think of when talking about letterboxing tools, they are a very important part of the letterboxing experience. You need good socks inside your hiking boots, right?

So, if you'd like some new socks to enhance your letterboxing experience, come join our sock swap. All info is on the tracker, and questions are welcome. I'll be closing the tracker on Tuesday and sending out the addresses and sizes later this week. :)

You mentioned Tom Waite. I wonder now if that may be a brother, or uncle, or some such of Ralph Waite who starred in The Waltons. Possibly a son, even.
Has Robert Redford passed on, or just retiring from making movies?

Actually, it is Tom Waits, the musician and actor (I loved him in "Mystery Men").

I believe he is retiring from making movies. He did produce this film, so I don't know if it's acting and producing or just acting.

Actually, it is Tom Waits

Bonus box

I am confused about how to set up a bonus box. I want to plant a box with a bonus. How will someone know this one box has a bonus linked to it and how do I list it?

The idea of a bonus box is that it is a surprise - the finder is not supposed to "know that the one box has a bonus" linked to it. Most finders know to look carefully at the first box's logbook, box, or clue to see if there's a hint somewhere (often in the back of the logbook, but not always). When they find the bonus box, that box's logbook will contain the name and info to enable the finder to log the bonus.

When you set up the bonus box on AQ, make it dependent on the original box, which means unless/until the finder logs the original box, they cannot see the listing for a bonus box.

Hey Michigan friends,

My friend TeachJR of Illinois started a virtual event several months ago wanting to get 200 letterboxes planted all over the country to help celebrate the bicentennial of Illinois. I believe there are around 140 boxes planted, but that still leaves 60ish boxes to go. I know that there are 2 boxes already planted in Michigan.

I just thought I'd throw the idea out there to encourage you to help her meet her goal if you have the time and desire. Maybe you have a box already carved that would fit this theme perfectly! Here's the link if you are interested.

https://www.atlasquest.com/showinfo.php?eventId=4046

And, a completely random tangent: TeachJR and friends throws an amazing event every year in Illinois (always using the word HOMERDOODLE) if you are looking for a great event to attend. Here is the link to this summer's event:

https://www.atlasquest.com/showinfo.php?eventId=4062

Just my encouragement to my Michigan letterboxing community. Have a blessed Thanksgiving, everyone!

I forward all spam to:

spam@uce.gov

It's the FTC. I don't know how effective it actually is but it makes me feel good doing it. I've seen discussions where people say it doesn't really do anything but hey.....you never know. I also find the legitimate email address of the company to send it to....paypal, bank of america, whoever and forward it there. They all have addresses to send scam email to.
