My To-Do list is still waiting as well. We were enjoying ourselves too much today to worry about chores.

It was hot - but a beautiful day to be out. We were more than happy to go with you to the letterboxes. Plus, we were first to find on two new ones today! That's always a bonus.

Thanks for a fun day!
I hope everyone else is enjoying the weekend as well.

it will cost you between $4 and $5

That's about what I was thinking too which fits pretty good within my budget! :) And that runs pretty close to the cost of planting a traditional box in the wild.

Occassionally there are beginner swaps. Also if you are a great carver then let the stamp be the focus, if you're not try some pretty paper with a fancy corner punch or some layering to jazz it up. I find that people who aren't great carvers sometimes do the best cards because they don't just stamp on a plain piece of paper and call it good. I like to think of it like a mini scrapbook page. There are several monthly swaps and those are a good place to start as they are less specific with theme. Smaller swaps mean that you can try something without being committed to doing it 30 times. Mostly just have a great time!

I thought it really sounded strange since it is cold. I love the various ingredients, but the combination sounds so crazy to me. I think I'd be afraid to try it!!

Is it OK if the paper is colored? I'm just not very creative with my cards ;)

Yes, but if you do that, and its a Musical chairs, Missy won't be able to keep it will she? I suppose she could scan it and then send it on...

I understoof that those MCLTC's were to be looked at then mailed on to another until the very last moment of the tracker, then the last person gets to keep it. Right? Wrong?

You're right. Only the person at the end gets to keep it. But I've seen plenty of people ask for bribes or their own LTCs if they don't have a musical card to trade for a musical card.

So, then, they can see it, but still have to mail it out after, right? Since they may not be the last person on the tracker...??? Guess still not understanding this new twist on LTC's...

Thanks, btw...

Yes, you can use any color, print, abstract, whatever card stock, you wish, as long as the image is able to be discerned clearly with it. Some layer, as was spoken of, by doing it like a matting, such as white background with a black next layer, then another layer with the image on that color, etc....it fancies it up with out too much thought put into it, other than color choices for a pleasant presentation...or it could be plain, print, plain with image, have fun with it is the most important part of it...

I was sitting on the front stoop this evening and was suddenly aware of the myriad of fireflies. Immediately I was the eight year old at my grandparent's home in Osky. Funny how that works.

There are several monthly swaps

I found two so far one by Green Tortuga and another one by Memere that I think I will start with. But I've got a few others tagged that look interesting.

Thank you everyone for all your suggestions and help! :)

I'll ask him if he's going to the conference and, if so, maybe I can encourage him to place a letterbox.

If he is going, he can look me up at the conference. I was hoping that a group of us could go letterboxing together. Galveston has about 10 on the island that I plan to go see. At some really great places too! I also wanted to take some with me. thanks for asking him.

they can see it, but still have to mail it out after, right

The object is to see how many times a single card can be passed. I put on the back of mine that you could scan it before sending it on, so you have a copy for your records while the original is no longer yours to keep. On Dec 31st it will stop traveling and stay with the person who has it on that day. I like making cards but I don't have a lot of "storage" space so this allows me to see them and not have anyone mad at me for passing it on. It seems like people want to trade MCLTCs for the same but there are only so many of them so eventually they'll have to be traded for something else.
