Quote I am looking, maybe, for something that a child could very easily carve,

I found a plastic eraser at a college bookstore while traveling. I wished I had bought more after creating a stamp. The ink transferred great. It was the Mercur Iraser Eraser. 69 cents. They come in bright colors and smell really good too. Kids would like that. Heck I liked it. I found them later by searching the internet, but decided to place an order for PZCUT. I do love it, but since you asked specifically for a kids' material, I thought of the eraser right off.

Holy stamp-o-rama! The Meet the Land Pirates "mini" meet isn't looking so "mini" anymore!

Alternative arrangements for meeting places given the size of the
group/weather/indoor considerations as we get closer to the Feb 17th
date are now being considered and will be posted, somewhere...erm,
very soon-ish.

There are a few of you I KNOW (or who know people who know you) ARE
signed up on the AQ event listing, who have NOT been checking your
AQ mail. Tsk, tsk! Shame on you!!

One should also czech out the AQ event page details, and perhaps
other places where preboxed hangs out...from this point forward.
There could be stuff you might wanna know.

For logisitical reasons at a *very* minimum....put yourself on the
AQ event listing signup list even if a "maybe". Kindly just let me
know when you do if you are a "yes" or "possible maybe" or go ahead
and remove your trail name if "no can go."

I'm just saying...paying attention/communciating with me could
have ...wait for it...PREwards...

Thanks muchly!

If you dampen the paper to flatten it, be sure you mist both sides. That way, the grain in the paper will dry evenly. Funhog

I would have never thought of contact paper, or double sided tape, or even rubber cement. I was thinking glue stick and then maybe having to mod-podge it to seal in everything.
The cover part breaks away from the threaded part, leaving the container open. On mine, it did this while it was sitting on my shelf, so I had no idea there was a problem until I went to use it and found the contents had hardened.
I have found this happens a lot, when I try to tighten down the lid on plastic caps.
This has happened on Compound W bottles, on NuSkin bottles and on other small bottles.
I had to waste several bottles of NuSkin (a wonderful product!) until I realized that I was litterally screwing the top off the cap by forcing it downward too far by twisting it. The plastic fatigued, and over time, the strain and stress, breaks the plastic apart.
I would just try to put the cap on, but not tighten it down. That has worked a lot better for me. (Live and learn!)

Have fun at the event, we will be heading down to WVa to attend an event that I had signed up for before you posted the local one. Lady Dove is looking forward to chatting with Granny down that way. As you can see, I'm up late again thanks to the folks who can't come to work on Fridays, don't these folks realize that I have events to attend?

I mentioned missing a NC event because some scoundrel broke into a workshop that is on my Mom's property and stole a large quantity of portable items including my chainsaws. I spent that Saturday installing an extra steel entryway door. The good news is that some items turned up in a Wellston pawnshop brought in by a neighborhood kid with a criminal record. I look forward to attending the court hearing when he is picked up.

Hey Dixie,
I have seen the 6 oz rectangle and the 15 oz rectangle . . . . but I thought somewhere once upon a time I saw an 11 oz rectangle?? I would like to get some of those, as (in my opinion) the 6 oz is a little snug and the 15 oz is a tad big. Was I dreaming?

I'd be interested in doing a Paul Revere box . . . somthing I keep wanting to get to, since I grew up in the town where Paul Revere owned his farm . . . sadly while I was in high school the town sold the land to a company -- it was a big historical deal -- it was called Prouse Farm in Canton, Massachusetts. Anyway, I'd love to do it and plant a sister box in Canton, since it's been on my back burner for over a year! This is just the impetus I need . . .

I have started a new letterbox ring in honor of Mother's Day.

For this ring, pick a movie that empowers you, one that speaks to you and makes you feel good. You will be sending a DVD version of this movie along with your box. Carve a stamp that represents the movie, or the empowerment that you gain from the movie.

Then tell us why this movie empowers you, why it speaks to you, why it gives you strength.

Also, tell us what woman in your life has made the biggest impression on you and why. I know most of us are going to say our mothers or grandmothers, and that's great, but tell us all about her, and how her life has given you strength. (awww, didn't know that letterboxing included essay writing, huh!!)

And guys, I'd love to see y'all in this too, coz I know there's a strong woman in your life.

This ring will start May 1st, so there's lots of time to get a box ready and be very creative!!
I've limited the sign-ups to 10, but would be willing to start a second ring if there is enough interest.

As mothers, wives, daughters and sisters, we tend to put the needs of others before our own. Where do you draw your strength?

Mel
