However you would like to do it. No preconceived notions of what the carver would like to create. For example, for fast food place-a McDonald's or Burger King logo would be fine or any thing that represents fast food for you would be great. Let yourself go!

Hi all - We're almost three quarters of the way through 2019, and this is the time I start thinking of the Year in Review event over the New Year Weekend.

We love having stamps come from all different carvers! So if you are able, we would appreciate the help.

Here are the Trackers for the event:
In Memoriam 2019
2019 News and Current Events
2019 Pop Culture, Trends and Entertainment
Sports 2019
My 2019

Stamps for this event will not be returned, instead they will be transitioned into a Time Capsule Event Box that can travel to events if requested.

Thanks for any help!

I have 9 Family Guy series stamps available for planting anywhere in the US -

Peter, Lois, Meg, Chris, Stewie, and Brian carved by me

Chris, Stewie, and Quagmire carved by cooled coyote (I was going to use these more detailed stamps for bonus boxes, but do with what you will)

These stamps were carved for and previously used for my Letterboxers Egg Hunt 2019 - Animation Event

Please help find the Griffin family a good home!

2019 Year in Review Stamps Request
Board: Stamp Swap
Nov 26, 2019 3:59am
Hi all - As the year is beginning to wind down, I thought I'd put out a final request for stamps for the 2019 Year in Review event being held over New Year’s weekend up here in snowy Maine.

If you are willing to carve a stamp, I'd very much appreciate any help I can get. Due date to receive the stamps is 12/27/19. After the event concludes, the whole collection of stamps will be made into a Time Capsule event box, which can travel to events across the US. Currently the Time Capsule 2017 & Time Capsule 2018 event boxes are available to travel (with 40+ stamps each, they are a little heavy but I don't mind paying the postage for each to be sent as long as the requester doesn't mind paying for it to be returned to me.)

Here are the trackers for the event, with ideas for stamps:
2019 News and Current Events
2019 Pop Culture, Trends and Entertainment
Sports in 2019
In Memoriam 2019
My 2019

Again, thanks for any help that can be had. It's very much appreciated, and the drop-in participants love to see other folks work.

Traditional Trackers

Note: traditional trackers are used to track traditional boxes. They should not be used for other uses, such as when requesting stamps for an event (even if they are going to be used for a traditional series), because this forces tracker participants to create listings for traditional boxes that do not exist.

Technically, this part is not true; however, the reminder to use “other” type still holds.

1. That's a quote direct from Ryan.
2. If people are not going to list boxes, than what's the point of using a tracker? The Stamp Swap exists for exactly one purpose: asking for stamps.

Humm.....I've made stamps for many trackers and only created listing for a couple - when specifically asked to do so by the organizer. All of the trackers I've signed up for, though, seem to be used in the same way: As a place for the organizer to list, collect, and keep track of donated stamps for a specific theme (usually, but not always, for a specific event) to prevent duplicates and in some cases constrain the number of stamps received.

so I'm confused

again

An "Other" tracker can be used to sort and keep track of donations.

The Traditional tracker has always been for collecting groups of already planted traditional boxes. A series of boxes that really can't be done in one trip so shouldn't be listed as a single Series.

IMO - You and Ryan are probably in the minority of understanding the intent as such... and I know that most of those trackers that were listed in error were mine... and since Ryan never messaged me that I was doing it wrong - I had no idea I needed to change.

But as I'm done with events - I'm done needing trackers - so you can carry on as needed :)

forces tracker participants to create listings for traditional boxes

This again? It doesn’t force the participants to list boxes. I have participated in many traditional trackers that consist of carves for an event. The organizers specifically told people to not list boxes, that they would list the boxes :::when they planted them for the event::::

This worked just fine. The organizer kept track of carves and no carvers listed boxes. I don’t see the problem with this.

Again, what's the point of using a tracker if nothing is listed? Use the stamp request page.
If someone wants to use the list feature of a tracker.... the "other" tracker is made for it! Then people can list the carves and everyone can easily see who is carving what.

There may not be a point to it per se but I still fail to see the big deal. For years organizers have been using traditional trackers for the carves they request for events with no ill effect. So why not continue to do so.......if they choose to do so? Which most still do. And as I said, the organizer simply enters who is carving what and everyone can see it. And no carver is forced to list their box. The organizer does it when they plant the box. One box, one listing.

And since the last time this debate reared it's ugly head organizers have continued to use the traditional tracker with no ill effect and it must work fine for them since they are still doing it. If it didn't serve the purpose they wouldn't still be using it. In my never humble opinion that in itself makes it kind of a pointless debate. If it works......

In 15 years of using AQ, I’ve never once used, or even understood the point of, a tracker. So I don’t give a squat about this debate.

However, I can think of some movies set in the woods:

Evil Dead 1&2
Friday The 13th 1-7 (you’ll have to do an event in Manhattan to include 8, and on a spaceship once you get to X)
The Cabin In The Woods (duh!)
Cabin Fever
The Woods

...and if you aren’t into horror:

Bambi
Snow White
Pocahontas
Winnie The Pooh
Fern Gully
Open Season

And if the RAIN forest counts:
Medicine Man (gotta love Sean Connery with a giant ponytail!)
Cannibal Holocaust (banned in 50 countries!)

Okay, I’m done having fun.

Blair Witch for sure, but it was already listed in the tracker. However, the whole “found footage” genre that it spawned was originally taken from Cannibal Holocaust, a film I highly recommend you READ about for it’s fascinating historical significance, but avoid actually watching.

I read some of it. That was quite the uproar. And judging by what I read I can see why. Man. I wouldn’t be able to watch because it says they actually killed animals during the filming.

It’s on YouTube. Why am I not surprised?

Yeah, the director's genius marketing ploy was to have all the actors sign contracts that they would NOT appear publicly for one year after the film was released, to give the impression that this was real documentary footage and they really were all killed. This came back to bite him when he was put on trial in Italy for making a snuff film, requiring him to bring the actors into court and prove they were still alive. The initial Blair Witch Project viral marketing used a similar approach.

But he WAS convicted of animal cruelty, primarily for a scene where the natives slaughter a hog, which is odd because they would have killed and eaten it anyway, whether the cameras were there or not. I'm not trying to be insensitive to any animal activists, but lots of hogs have been slaughtered and we aren't arresting any slaughterhouse employees.

I think I've successfully killed the tracker debate that started this thread. To summarize, if a movie is set in the woods, whether it's Bambi or Jason Voorhees, someone's mom is gonna die.
