You mean the ones with a big corporation is coming to small town USA to take over (insert company)? Representative falls in love with a townie and/or the town. Turns on the mean boss, fall in love and live happily ever after.

Or the one where the widow hates Christmas, falls in love and regains Christmas magic?

Why?

Mostly because well, when else would October 31 be other than after October 30?

If those folks got their way, then a few other celebration days might need tweeking:
Beggars' Night
Books For Treats Day
National Caramel Apple Day
National Doorbell Day
National Knock Knock Jokes Day
Trick or Treat for UNICEF Day

Some days seem set in stone:
All Hallows Eve
Day of the Seven Billion
Samhain - (Pagan)

Some could be whenever, unless there's something specific about the date:
Magic Day
World Cities Day
World Savings Day

Kirbert, it isn’t a matter of “why” but “how” or “by whom”. Halloween is not a legal holiday controlled by a government, so no individual or group have any authority to “move” it.

Halloween, thanks to the rules of historical linguistic chain shifts, is All Hallow’s Eve, followed by All Saint’s Day and All Soul’s Day. These Christian holidays have existed since the eighth century. They were the Christianization of pagan harvest festivals, such as the Celtic Samhain, but there are ancient harvest festivals celebrated in cultures all over the world.

For you to say “there’s talk of moving Halloween” is just as ridiculous as saying “there’s talk of moving Easter”. Passover begins on 15 Nisan in the Hebrew calendar, and has been celebrated for thousands of years. Easter is at the end of Passover, and has been celebrated as such at least since the Council of Nicaea.

Next you’ll be saying there’s talk of moving my birthday.

So, if we all agree to do our trick-or-treating on the last Saturday in October, there's no one who can tell us we can't?

St. Marks Lighthouse

Over the past half century, lighthouses have gradually morphed from essential navigation aids to crumbling relics to treasured historical artifacts. The St. Marks Lighthouse, about an hour's drive from my house, has been inop for many years but a local group formed to resurrect it and fit it with a modern LED light -- in a replica Fresnel lens, which cost a donor a chunk of change. The original Fresnel lens is in a nearby museum.

They held a re-lighting ceremony on October 31 (Halloween), and quite a crowd showed up. All were invited to tour the restored Keeper's Residence, outfitted as a museum detailing the history of the lighthouse.

While perusing the museum, I happened upon a rubber stamp! Nobody was saying anything about it, it was just sorta laying there alongside an ink pad. Not only was it custom made, but it was *dated* -- it wasn't to commemorate the lighthouse but the *relighting* of the lighthouse. A one-day-only stamp. Didn't have my log book along, so I snatched some scratch paper and stamped it.

Interestingly, it seemed to be formed on some sort of transparent rubber.

If someone must study for 6.5 hours a week, how many minutes a day is that?

5 hours a week?

4.2 hours a week?

4.3 hours a week?

Thank You for answers. I'm just not figuring this out correctly. I keep getting different numbers every time I tried to correct my own math process in which is obviously just wrong wrong wrong. 😭😭😭

The answer is 390 minutes, on Monday morning, starting at about 2 am. Why study any of the other days when you can get it done then. It will be fresh in your mind for Monday mornings quiz. All the other questions can be worked out the same way.

6.5 x 60= 390 minutes a week
390 / 7 = 55.71 minutes a day

5 x 60= 300 minutes a week
300 / 7 = 41.86 minutes a day

4.2 x 60= 252 minutes a week
252 / 7 = 36 minutes a day

4.3 x 60= 258 minutes a week
258 / 7 = 36.86 minutes a day

These are my answers. That being said I don't trust them because I'm not a math person. Also, this is assuming you want to study on the weekend. Yuck.

You can solve this by first working out how many MINUTES you have to study each week:

6.5 hours x 60 min/hr = 390 min

(If you're familiar with multiplying fractions, notice that the units follow multiplication rules: in this case, you have hrs x min/hr, so the hours on the top and bottom cancel and you're left with minutes. This can be helpful for doing unit conversions! (But if this is more confusing than helpful, then just ignore it!))

Now that we know how many minutes per week (390 min/week), we just need to convert to minutes per day. You know there are 7 days in a week, so think: would it make more sense to multiply or divide by 7?

Obviously however many minutes you study per week, you will study LESS than that per day, so multiplying by 7 doesn't make sense. You will have to divide by 7. In fact

390 min/week ÷ 7 days/week = 55.71 min/day

(The units still obey fraction multiplication/division rules: min/week ÷ days/week = min/week x weeks/day = min/day, since the weeks on top and bottom cancel. But again, ignore this part unless it's helpful!)

So in summary, to convert hours/week of studying to min/day of studying, you will have to MULTIPLY by 60 min/hour, and DIVIDE by 7 days/week. So

5 hours/week x 60 min/hr ÷ 7 days/week = 42.86 min/day

4.2 hours/week x 60 min/hr ÷ 7 days/week = 36 min/day

4.3 hours/week x 60 min/hr ÷ 7 days/week = 36.86 min/day
