Sorry. I don't do two of those things on a regular basis. I'll try to remember.

I appreciate an equal amount of cards for the number of participants. Don't hold one back for yourself. ...hmmm...something I am trying not to do anymore for hosts...again, sorry.

I have 2 out of 3. I hardly ever put the tracker it's for on the outside. I forget that people do more than one at a time.

My #1 pet peeve as a host are those packets arriving with me having no clue where the tabs are to pull off the stamps, address label and where to open the envelope. I hate to have to resort to an exacto knife to take the old stuff off but I often do. Please folks, make life simple for the host and mark where the pull tabs are.

Thanks!

Okay folks... time to brain storm with me.

I hosted an LTC Retreat here in Wisconsin this month. I'm owning the 4th weekend in August for a Wisconsin retreat. ;-) The house only hold 7 people...small fun group. I'm contemplating on hosting a second retreat in Wisconsin. At the same place because it's so inexpensive - Wednesday through Sunday is a little over $50 per person for the whole 4 days.

I want to know what are good times of the year for people...specifically you LTCers that would like to come? I'm kind of contemplating the middle of October.

I would be interested! Oct. or Nov. would be nice. My college student has odd holidays, but she could always visit her dad that weekend, if it conflicts.

Annual Crafting/LTC retreat options

First, please pardon me, Linden Leaf-I just posted about this topic on the Facebook page for LTC-ers, then jumped on AQ and saw your post-and I'm sorry! But, while I am super-excited to hear about smaller, local retreats being planned, I would like to put it out there for an effort to be made for someone to host next year's annual Craft Retreat an event that was started by Linden LEaf, LROSEM, and aMAZEing adventure frog 4 years ago....Patty and I hosted this year in Colorado, and we have had past events in Minnesota, Ohio, and Indiana. It has really been fun and exciting to meet in new places and craft, have wonderful social time and educational sessions, and even do some letterboxing and sight-seeing together and we would really like to see this type of event continue. Please consider picking up the torch here, as we pass it along, or at least report in to suggest other locations for next year! So far, Maude has found a few potential places in Iowa that would primarily focus on just the crafting-not really much for letterboxing or sights to see(but Iowa is still very beautiful!), and AAFrog has mentioned a really cool crafting condo in St. Louis(very close to her house, actually!). I'm sure there must be plenty more places and possibilities out there, so please help to keep this alive! We are open-minded and ready for new adventures!

Maudeโ€™s IA suggestions both looked interesting to me. Lots of beds/baths and crafting room. Small town looked interesting to explore. We donโ€™t need to box near retreat ... we plant our own :)

Here is the research that Maude sent me last week:

The Stitchery Nook is located in the tiny town of Osage in northwest Iowa The store is on-site. They carry quilting and scrapbooking stuff.

15 beds, mostly twin size - Amenities
12 - 6 ft. tables
"We will consider daily rentals of Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday depending upon reservations at the retreat center"
Rates are by-the-room, per night.
hard-surface road (not gravel)

Sight Seeing? Mitchell County Attractions

The Quilted Steeple is another very rural place
Sixteen 8 ft. tables with lights
on a hard surface road (not gravel)
I think the crafting room is the church basement - it doesn't say, but photo seem to indicate it is - the sanctuary still has pews.
Full kitchen adjacent to the crafting room.
$120/person for a bed, plus $35/day for an extended stay
another letterbox desert ~ which could change at either location ~ whistling innocently

Sight seeing? Algona Area Attractions

Frog found a Condo that is set up for large groups, as some sort of and Airbnb situation, I think; I can't find the link she texted me, but she will be visiting this property to check it out for us. I hope others of us will post any findings of any potential locations...there was one post on my thread on the LTC Fanatics page on facebook for a beautiful lodge near Pidgeon Forge, TN that looks very nice!

There are links in the original post that didn't copy, so here's the original.

I'd say a single discussion in a single online location would be easier for all of us to keep up with ideas and comments.
Further, just FYI, I tossed out two suggestions to start the conversation, and don't really care where we end up, or how many options there are.

Why is this a private page? If we're going to have an open discussion about a yearly public LTC retreat then it needs to be public for all of us to see.

I would be happy to host one in NY, but the consensus seemed to be that people aren't interested in upstate NY.

Yeah. Topcollector me too. It seems it must be a private group. Hopefully the info will be posted publicly then we can all be on the same page. But it looks like our options are Iowa, Tennessee, and possibly New York? :-)
