"Blues From the Rainforest" is an interesting instrumental CD with a wonderful nature vibe! Merl Saunders plays the keyboards, while Jerry adds a few tasty guitar licks. It's definitely not your typical Dead album/show/concert, but it's a great listen! ENJOY!!! ;o)

For those unfamiliar with this music, have a listen to track #1 here:

Get your free unreleased Grateful Dead MP3s from the "Vault" here: 30 Days of Dead

Download them or just have a listen! There will be a new song everyday. If you care to venture a guess at the venue and date, you could win a cool prize! They even give you a little hint. Don't forget to listen to yesterdays Shakedown Street from the Rainbow Theatre in '81 - Great tune!!! ;o)

DANG!!!

I correctly guessed yesterdays concert, but my name wasn't drawn as the winner. If you listen closely at the end of that rendition of Sugaree, you can hear the first few notes of El Paso. Setlist.com revealed only one show that ever opened with "Sugaree > El Paso". Oh well....... at least I'll be entered into the Grand Prize drawing, even though odds of winning that will be very slim!

Have a Grateful Month!!!! ;o)

Pete

PS - They've added CD cover artwork for those who want to download and burn these tunes onto a disc!

OK, I admit it, I am not computer savvy. I want so much to share something I came across this week, but I don't know how to do it like all of you do. (You know, a highlighted 'blue' word that when clicked on takes you right to the photo, link, or whatever.) It is in the photo gallery listed as "Bon Appetit! A Grateful Thanksgiving." But if someone can explain how to make it easy for me to share this please send me an e-mail. It is really a fun find.

Thank you so much Larry. I was so surprised to find this in the November issue of Bon Appetit. It put a big smile on my face all day at work. I don't really like pumpkin pie, but this makes it look good. What a fun stamp this would make.

Can you believe I also guessed the correct concert/dates for both the 5th (Cream Puff War - Fillmore Auditorium
7/3/1966) and 6th ( Playing in the Band - Tempe, AZ, Feyline Field 11/25/1973)??? Still not a winner though. I'm guessing that there's a lot of competition! Oh well - It's still fun!!! ;o)

So............................... Here's the funny thing:

I guessed Cream Puff War (7/66 in CA), Sugaree (8/80 in OH) and Playing in the Band (11/73 in AZ)......

Yet I missed West L.A. Fadeaway (3/87 in CT) and So Many Roads (10/94 in MA) - the shows that we were actually at!!!

DOH!!!!!!!!

"S'all good" ;o)

Pete

PS - Todays acoustic rendition of Uncle Johns Band sounds like the end of a 1970 set. Anyone care to venture a guess on Date/Venue?
