Just thinking out loud but how many of how think that Lindsey's closeness to Hurricane Gustav and the drop in barometric pressure could've had anything to do with this??

Not sure about barometric pressure causing issues in pregnancy, but I know the stress of an oncoming storm could certainly trigger something.

I'm thankful that she is getting to head home more relaxed and pray that the rest of the pregnancy goes on without incident.

Hoping for an easy delivery for Desi & Darren, too.

Glad to here Lindsey is going home! Will continue to pray that all is well now. I'll also be praying for Desi and Darren as Hanna and Ike seem to want to come and visit Charleston just as they are expecting the arrival of Raileigh. (hope I remembered that correctly) Are they thinking they will have to evacuate?

When I last talked to Hawkeye last night, Desi and Darren were just sitting and waiting, hoping not to have to evacuate. The baby is due Friday!!

As for Desi and Darren.... no plans to evacuate just yet. The area they live in is very prone to flooding. I mean in a heavy reain they can't get out. Guess that's why it's called the "low country". Right now we are playing a waiting game. Desi goes to the doctor on Friday. Kind of waiting to see what doc says before plans are made. I've got this image in my head of everyone trying to leave and me trying to get in. Here again, just trusting God to work it out. :-)

Thanks again for all of your prayers!!

Your patience and faith are really being tested. By now I am sure you are saying that you know GOD doesn't give you more than you can handle with his help, but you wish HE wouldn't trust you so much!!

I just think of poor Mary at times like this, so near her delivery day, and riding on a donkey into Bethlehem.

Can anyone relate? I remember those last 2 CAR rides!!!

Love and smiles as well. Granny

Someone said once if you can't be grateful for what you have, be grateful for what you don't have.

Having had a lumpectomy in September and then a series of questions at the year point of the first mammo this year, all now OK, I am grateful for what I don't have.

Praying that your friends are well and coming through their valleys of shadows with HIS help.

HEY! I just got back from hospital! GREAT NEWS!!
Skip is out of surg. The doc came out shaking his head and said he had never seen anything like it . . . . what was to be a 4-6 hour surg. only took 2 hours . . . his heart ran on its own the whole time . . . and he did not even need any blood transfusions!
None of these things are the way it happens usually! He is in CCU but was able to give me the thumbs up when he saw me!

God IS good! Prayer is Awesome . . . Thanks to all of you! you Rock!

Now if we can just get through breat cancer surg later in the week all will be graced! T :)

Many thanks to all of the offers to take care of Jdog. I've got arrangements made for her. She will NOT be making the trips with me. Way too much school to miss especially now that she is in middle school. I'm thinking that I will probably be heading to Desi's on Friday unless the doctor gives me reason not to. I talked to her today and she is complaining of feeling funny and just not feeling good. My opinion....early atages of labor. But we'll see.

Again thanks for everyone's prayers. God has once again taken care of my family.

Post-hurricane Quick Report

Just a quick post to let everyone know how we are.

If you have watched the news, you know that this storm was a mean one, but there was great mercy before landfall as it lost strength. We are so thankful.

Some areas were terribly hard hit, and we're waiting to see just what that means. Houma and Baton Rouge, Louisiana were hammered, and the damage was extensive. Many other areas were, as well. We are north of the roughest areas, but we may be without power longer than they will be. Estimates are ranging from one to six weeks, depending upon the area.

Our home was spared any damage; our trees filled the yard with debris. It's hot, hot without power, but we are more thankful than we are uncomfortable.

What mercy! To all who have prayed and thought about us, thanks so much. God is indeed good.

Mama Cache our prayers continue to be with you. Take care in the heat and remember to drink plenty of water since you will not be able to have much relief from the heat until you have power back. Gook luck with a speedy clean up.

I am so glad y'all are okay - and that you have temporary power for now! Wish I could drop in this weekend with my dear friend out of town... Louisiana is a little far from the Seattle area for a weekend jaunt, I'm afraid.

Has anyone heard from Blackberry Patch - she's in the Baton Rouge area.

I'm glad to hear that you made it OK. We here in Arkansas took a pretty good hit from it too. the center hovered over Texarkana and dumped a lot of rain on the state. Trees blew down from the soil being waterlogged which took out power lines. We still have thousands without power (luckily I'm not one of them).

One person from Lousiana was on the news and said "We left home to come here to avoid the storm and now y'all are getting it".

Having never had to survive a Hurricane I can only say that TV live photo coverage of the aftermath has given me a whole new respect.

How stressful that must be on young families, the elderly, and those awaiting births (and their Grannies, Hawkeye.

Our prayers go out to each family that is affected and may GOD surround them with his love.

Absolutely it could be related! With my first son, I went into labor as a monster storm approached our area, and I spent the night walking the halls during a whopper of a thunderstorm. I started to think about naming him Noah or Moses! ;)

Here's one citation of the phenomenon: http://pregnancy.about.com/cs/laborbirth/l/blweather.htm

I would expect it's a pretty subjective topic and the opinion of OB-GYNs vary widely.

Praying for healthy pregnancies and deliveries for both your girls!

My grandmother

Hi everyone,

I've been lurking on this board for a little while, and it's wonderful to see this caring community! I'm hoping people can send up some prayers or thoughts for my grandmother... Margaret. Almost two weeks ago she took a fall and hit her head. They rushed her to the hospital (she was about an hour from home when this happened, so it's not her local hospital) and ended up doing surgery on her brain that night. She was doing better, and they decided to transfer her to a rehab hospital near home yesterday. It turns out they shouldn't have moved her, because she took a turn for the worse and had to be taken to a real hospital shortly after arriving. My mom and aunts are there, as is my grandfather. They are having a very hard time. We'd always thought my grandfather would go first, and this would have been better, because he can't take care of himself and she could. Her health had been better than his too. I'm trying to decide if I should drive up tomorrow to be there Sunday. I don't know what's going to happen, and I haven't heard what the latest prognosis is... if she could pull out, or if she's not likely to, but I'd appreciate any thoughts/prayers people make on her behalf.

Thank you all!
